Summary: WarGames is a decent RTS game in the Command & Conquer vein. If you're hoping for a game that captures the feel of the movie or that can compete with the likes of Total Annihilation, Starcraft, or Myth, you will be sorely disappointed. But if you just can't get enough of building bases and solving puzzles disguised as battlefields, you will probably get a kick out of WarGames.
Difficulty: Easy Learning Curve: About a half hour
Score: 7.6 (Good)
Summary: While WarGames: Defcon 1 may not have allowed me to relive one of my favorite films, it is still a solid game with a fairly good back story. Dabney Coleman may be nowhere to be found here, but once you get past this slight oversight (all games should feature at least one picture of Dabney), you'll discover a great shooter.
i've got a friend who's a nephrologist. he was talking about his work and the general state of kidney health in the states and told us that the leading cause of kidney disease/failure in the u.s. was high blood pressure. i said that i'd just read where office workers were drinking up to 20 cups of coffee a day, and joked that that ought to keep him in business for a long time to come. he told us that coffee/caffeine didn't actually cause high blood pressure and wasn't really a problem that way.
i assume he was speaking of people who hadn't yet developed high bp. what i don't know and should ask is how coffee would affect someone who already has high bp. what i also don't know is how getting your caffeine from coffee as opposed to nasty diet soda (i'm guilty) differs, but i have to imagine that there may be a real difference in how those two beverages affect you and your health. perhaps it's the soda and its additional ingredients rather than just the caffeine?
i didn't have a chance to try SingPod (it was already taken down), but i'm using Sing That iTune and it does, indeed, both display the lyrics and save them to the song file. actually, it's pretty sweet. i'm impressed. i'm going to try pearLyrics too and see how it compares.
My mom would always complain that I would just take things apart and never put them back together and usually make a huge mess.
same here, only it was my dad who finally got fed up. the last straw might've been when i disassembled their wristwatches one day when they left me home alone (i'd heard they used jewels to keep time and i wanted a look-see: 7 rubies).
mom said dad went into the garage and compiled a box of random stuff that he thought would be ok for me to destroy, brought it to me and said, "here. from now on, you can take apart this." i loved that box. good times.
my first instinct is still to take everything apart as soon as i get my hands on it. it's an absolute compulsion (that and pressing any buttons i see). people who've watched me do this think i'm a very weird girl.
DO NOT PURCHASE SONGS BACKED BY THE RIAA. It is only increasing their finances which are used to back legislation and smear campaigns to further erode fair-use rights.
I meet people that have passed the "twelve year wall" as vegetarians, or a much shorter span for vegans, and done so in good health, then I have to say the evidence in my own experience is conclusive. We need meat.
i disagree that we absolutely need meet and i'd like to offer myself as a counter-example. while i realise that earlier on in your post you're referring specifically to vegans, you do mention vegetarians in the above-quoted sentences. i've been a vegetarian my entire life (no kidding), which at this point amounts to 36 years. since you've never met me and aren't likely to, you'll just have to take my word for it that i am, in fact, enjoying very good health (no major illnesses, no cavities, no allergies, good cholesterol, etc.).
of course being a vegetarian (as opposed to vegan and as you pointed out), i do consume animal products in the form of (free-range) eggs and yummy, yummy (organic) cheese and ice cream, so my diet isn't as restricted as that of a vegan. i don't believe, though, that it is impossible to live successfully and healthfully as a vegan. it just takes some effort and some solid nutritional knowlege. i had a classmate who's grandmother has been vegan since the 1930's and i'd say that's pretty impressive. i've never met the woman, though, so i cannot comment on her health.
necklace headphones were extra (available in accessories section). only blue available for color (which is fine with me, as i liked that color best).
imo, the sound quality isn't that outstanding. for example, i think i prefer the sound on my ugly-ass rca lyra, or the philips whatsit we also have...or, heck, my ipod... do i have enough mp3 players?? it's (the mpio) definitely a cute package - shiny, light, small - but, i've not decided whether to keep it.
i'm not surprised. i got quite ill playing the first one. at first i actually had to go lie down for about an hour until the nausea subsided. eventually (after a couple of days of play), though, i acclimated to it and was able to play without further trouble.
The main story and your post put me in mind of a particular episode of "Secrets of the Dead" that I saw, exploring the plague and its survivors.
I wonder if either of those fellows could have been carriers of the delta 32 gene, a mutated form of the gene CCR5:
"In 1996, research showed that delta 32 prevents HIV from entering human cells and infecting the body"
http://www.pbs.org/wnet/secrets/case_plague/
I didn't see in the article anywhere where it mentioned which gene was affected in the Chinese women, but it seems like to be a different one, based on the information presented in the "Secrets" show:
"O'Brien assembled an international team of scientists to test for the presence of delta 32 around the world. "Native Africans did not have delta 32 at all," O'Brien says, "and when we looked at East Asians and Indians, they were also flat zero." In fact, the levels of delta 32 found in Eyam were only matched in regions of Europe that had been affected by the plague and in America, which was, for the most part, settled by European plague survivors and their descendents."
It was a really good show and if you get the opportunity to watch it, I highly recommend that you do.
If you use peerguardian and 321 Software you will notice that the program does not work because it blocks reporting to the 321 sites. This means that not only do they have a legal list of registered users that have bought it, but they also have a list of IP's of all the people who have burned a movie. While I have not checked what these packets contain, I can only assume they have a whole list of any thing that any one has ever copied...
are you sure? we've used it on a computer that is in no way connected to the outside world and it worked just fine.
a little surprised that i haven't seen anyone else mention this one yet (could be i just missed it). i've been using dscully@fbi.gov for about 6 years now, and a guy i know has been using fmulder@fbi.gov. additionally, when a street address is required i'll often supply that of the fbi headquarters (just so everything matches up). hmm... maybe i should post this anonymously, just in case... nah.
it's too bad you aren't having a better experience with firefox on your mac. i've got firefox 0.8 on my old g3 (pismo) laptop (10.3.4) and i couldn't be happier. it runs better than firefox 0.8 on my xp box, in fact.
sure it rains 200+ days a year in portland, but they're all in a row. then you get 100+ days of sunshine.
personally, i love portland and the rain. it's my number-one favorite place to live in the united states, and probably number three in the world.

Q. What do you get when you cross a mountaineer with a grape?
...
A. You can't -- a mountaineer is a scalar!
i heard it as:
q: what do you get when you cross a mosquito and a mountain climber?
a: you can't cross a vector and a scalar.
now
q: what's purple and commutes?
a: an abelian grape!

i'd be interested to know what dvd players those are, as there are several european-only dvds i'd like to purchase and watch ...
do either of you (astrojetsonjr and lawrencekhoo) have pictures of your setups for us to see?
From Ford's on Escape Hybrid FAQ site:
What kind of performance will I get from the Escape Hybrid?
The Escape Hybrid performs with V6-like acceleration yet consumes much less fuel.
Can I tow a trailer with an Escape Hybrid?
Yes, the Escape Hybrid is expected to be rated for towing up to 1,000 pounds.
While it certainly may not be as powerful as a non-hybrid Escape (I'm guessing), it doesn't sound woefully underpowered as all that.
my domes work exactly the same way.
