I had my first website when I was nine. I had an HTML book, a few tutorial websites, and notepad.
HTML is really simple, especially at a young age. If you don't care about standards (I'm sure an 11 year old girl sure doesn't) then that is a great way to start. She can learn as much as she needs to do what she needs.
Plus, you're obviously involved somehow. You should be able to help her with the very basics.
Thanks for clearing this up. I've been wearing an aluminium hat for over seven months, and I always get weird looks. I guess it's because I'm not supposed to wear aluminium... I'm supposed to wear tin! Thanks again!
Will Phoenix in any way make it impossible to overclock with their BIOS? I know that it's the board manufacturer's decision now, but will that be so in the future?
I think the flight computer is going to run linux, and because of this SCO execs will be able to sue the airlines so that they get free flights on these new planes. Excellent idea, Mr. McBride!
I agree. My school has a big network of these things, and they're actually pretty fun to use. They have some really neat games also. I wouldn't mind buying a few.
Perhaps Microsoft is doing this so ad companies will pay it to not have their pop ups blocked? Most users will not know (or care) how to turn off this pop up blocker. (I'm sure most of them don't want pop ups anyways.. I know I don't.) So an ad company would basically have to pay Microsoft to survive.

ATi probably won't go out of business. Ever. They make chips for DVD players, VCR's, and other kinds of home video stuff. That's what kept them going before they had nVidia beat. If they fall behind again, they will be sustained by that business again.
Also, ATi recently got a deal with Samsung to make chips for Samsung stuff. MPEG decoder! http://www.ati.com/companyinfo/press/2003/4700.htm l
While the 2600+ is a good overclocker, it's a thoroughbred model. You'd be better off getting a 1700+ if you want a thoroughbred. They'll both hit about the same speed, which is usally 2.5-2.7GHz on some good air cooling.
The Barton 2500+, though, is the lowest end of the Barton line of processors, and generally hit about 2.4GHz with air cooling, which actually equates to about 3400+.
With some exotic cooling, like phase change, you will probably get a few hundred MHz higher out of either chip.
I don't think it was very widely used, but: The first laptop!
It actually looks a lot like the early Apple laptops.
Want to put all of that power to use? Folding is a great thing Stanford is doing to help with cancer research. It uses spare CPU cycles on your computer, and you probably won't even notice that it's running.

"That would make all those late night Cthulhu missions with Lord Nekrull, my 16th level Assassin demi-god, a smashing good time!"
You, sir, are a nerd!
Care to play some time?
Can you point me in the direction of these non crappy drivers?
They do, of course, have an imaginary stopping distance.
I thought it would be something more like this:
1. Make product that helps your business.
2. ???
3. Profit!

I think the parent is confused. But, I'll help him out. If you replace all of his references to Microsoft into Apple, it fits a lot better, I think.
Now with Advanced Seizure Technology and Migraine 2.0?
Well, it's used to display Linux. That means it must be better!

Now do you figure?

Ergh! I started playing it and I didn't know I had my speakers up so loud. The pain!

Really... Who gives a damn if it isn't all that secure!
"OMG! Some l33+ hax0r got in and SAW my contact list! The horror!"
Its apparent usefullness outweighs the fact that it might be slightly insecure.
I really like this idea. This will be very usefull for times when I am using computers other than my own. From the way I understand it, anyways.
I believe SCO is in infringement of Amazon's IP.
So now, when somebody jumps, instead of making a "splat" noise, they make a "SPLAT!!!" noise. Right?
Lots of giggles!
And hopefully a second cold war. Think of the possibilities!
