Is anyone else frightened by the parent's post being moderated Interesting? I can just see a dozen mods in their basements stroking their handlebar mustaches... "Interesting... Very Interesting..."
Nah, that wouldn't work, my friend Marty can't spell to save his life, but I don't want his e-mail blocked because of it. He should prolly get a spell checker, though.
You know, IANASFP (Spam Filter Programmer), but I wonder if they could use that same technique AGAINST spam... if instead of flaging "Click" it flagged "5 letter word, starts with C, ends with K, contains I, L, and C, it would catch many mispellings. Of course, it could backfire in other cases, but its a thought maybe.
Of course, thats one of the anti-piracy methods incorporated by DRM. That hot episode of G String Divas (or Screen Savers, if you prefer) will actually be an episode of Ed, Edd, and Eddy.
As someone who has worked on crapped-out shovelware licensed GBA games, I believe this is very good news. Often times the license games skimp on design phase and go straight to development, usually using a cookie-cutter engine and game mechanics from a previous title. With some penalties in place, perhaps companies will spend more time thinking about how they can make "Michigan Frog Racing" fun, or just find something else to do if they can't do that.
Who wants pornographic pictures anyway? I think by now we've all graduated to movies. Firefox is way behind the porno movie technology curve, and I think thats a serious issue!
I agree. I too am an adult, and although I'm not particularly a fan of violent video games, I would like to see the industry get the protection it needs from parents complaining about kids buying violent games. That, and with mature games being off seperately, the portion of the industry that chooses to make ultra violent realistic games can continue to do as they wish, and the rest of us can make games that are less realistic (although not necessarily less violent) and have the shelves ALL TO OURSELVES.
Of course, the industry doesn't want this, because GTA3 was a huge seller, and most of the American industry just wants to imitate the latest big thing...
What about Winamp5 doesn't work well for video? I personally have a plethora of cartoons in various playlists, and I watch them in random order all day long while I work. I've found that its an excellent alternative to TV, which I don't have in my office at work (anymore). That, and it helps to keep the suicidal tendancies of work down, you know.
The only time I use another media player for anything is mplayer2 for porn, and thats only so I can watch lots at once.
You know, thats really not such a terrible idea. Sure, a simple implementation of it would be likely to lodge itself in some important stomach parts, but I know I've heard about people inserting inflated balloons into their stomachs to be 'more full' all the time. Perhaps a few years down the road, today's April Fool's joke will be tommorrow's Atkins.
Actually, I'm pretty sure Atkin's diet originated as an April Fool's joke back in '68.
As of January, some 25% of 'regular joe' users still use 800x600, so I'm not surprised at that. Maybe on your 1600x1200 it looks tiny, but didn't it look tiny before?
AI in video games shouldn't really be thought of as artificial intelligence, although I can't think of a way to put it that is as brief. When you're playing against the computer, you're really playing against the programmer. I'm putting a bunch of 'pieces' down to try and stop you from accomplishing your goal. Maybe thats not as fun to you, but from my end, its the most fun I can possibly have, so I really fear the day when online gaming precludes the need for "AI".
Working on Gameboy Advance games for an American company, we had several games rejected for poor gameplay. I totally agreed with Nintendo, so while my bosses cursed their name and spit blood whilst they did so, myself and my fellow employees secretly lauded them as our saviors - keeping our bosses from forcing us to release whack crap with OUR names on it.
Is that why downloads generally start off slow and speed up over the course of several minutes? I'd always just figured that was due to bps calculation sucking like it did back in the BBS days... but I guess I never really thought about it very much. Then again, I don't know much about how TCP/IP works... network programming always gives me such a headache.
"Lets not waste a good Roman god on a tiny little asteroid of a planet... Give it one of those, whatcha call 'em? Inuit? Sure, give it one of THOSE names!"
Slashdot will bring about the fall of humanity!
I lived the dream for two years before I quit my job... where can you go to live the dream for 3?
...than having an unemployed drunk for a father. At least when you come home, you'll probably hug your children and tell them you love them.

Rez, Jet Grind Radio, and Skies of Arcadia to name a few phenomenally good, yet underappreciated games.

Err, yeah, who here has 200 close friends?
Maybe we really WILL have Mr Fusion in time for 2015! Hmm, if thats true, then I better save up so I can put some money on the Cubbies!

Thats awful! Some geeks rely on girls cheating off them as their only source of female interaction!
Still, can't beat the R2D2 factor!

Just because we're nerds and supposedly more intelligent than average hu-mans doesn't mean we're not still stupid as hell.

Nintendo saved my resume!
Two errors out of eight actuators? Or two errors out of eight thousand parts in general? I'd say they did pretty good overall.
Sure! Its easy, just go to Central Park and ask for Julio, he's got laptops, small electronics... organs...

So, will Kyle be issuing refunds for those who pre-ordered?
