Exactly! Apple's leather case is getting Apple's name out more. The more Apple's name gets out, the more Apple computers will be sold to people who would never have bought an Apple otherwise. Apple Apple Apple. I do agree with you inspite of my scarcastic comment, fanboy out
Ya know...in your "scenario" you never actually get past step 9. Therefore even if your player is infinitely better then apple's you would never outsell it, nor profit.
archive.org man, Public Domain rocks! Night of the Living Dead there acutally got me to go out and buy a couple of newer releases of it. That and all the free westerns (I thought I hated them untill I realized that I could get them for free, and in high-enough quality to make dvd's out of them!)
Crap that's a good idea!, I'm a "This American Life" junkie, but often find myself busy on the weekends, but it'd be perfect for my cell away from home (read: office cubicle)

"So who's correct? You or Jobs?
Me. It hasn't exactly hurt Microsoft to sell operating systems, now has it? The reason Apple is so puny is BECAUSE they try and control everything."
right, cause you started a company out of your garage and had it turn into a multibillion doller company with devices in half the population's pockets and ears. (ok ok ok maybe not half, but you get the point)
Actually I just got my new intel imac, and lightning struck the powerlines a week after I got it, destroying the computer....I would now like to run my license on my pc white box.....
this situtation is very attainable. Yes I just made that story up but it could happen to a reasonable person, and I think it's reasonable to install on a white box in a case like that. Just for the record I own legal copies of... System 6.08 System 7 System 7.1 System 7.5 System 7.5.3 System 7.6 MacOS 8 MacOS 8.5 MacOS 9.1 MacOS 10 Public Beta MacOS 10.0 MacOS 10.1 MacOS 10.3 MacOX 10.4
all 100% legal legitimate copies! (original disks/manuals/etc) So ya, long story short, I think there could be legitimate reasons to install on a whitebox.
You say this in jest...but records are usually fifty cents to 5 bucks per album. Since I like mostly older classic rock anyway, and already have a nice record player....well I just buy the record, and listen to it, cheap, DRM-free, and I love the way it blows peoples minds to see a record player in use.
And why should we use spreadsheets either! I mean I'd choose a solid graphite pencil connected to a a ledger pad above excel/open office, no matter how reliable! Excel isn't essential for a ledger, and as for calculating the chineese had it right in the (....long time ago...) with the abacus! A Mechanical No brainer!
Really they're not going "to come chasing after me with their AK-47s, immediately after I perform my proof-of-concept experiment where I send my dog 12 miunutes into the future, forcing a dramatic, hair-raising flight by my friend who's videotaping the whole thing for posterity, ending in an accidental trip back in time which results in a near-catastrophic ripple in the space-time continuum."
but they just might

I beg to differ! What happens when I want to BUY music online and play it on my ipod, or rio, or whatever when the device doesn't support that form of DRM (or any at all on some devices!) then I can't even play music that I paid for! That is 100% perfectly fair use, and there are situtations that I wouldn't be able to listen to my music because of the DRM...
here, here! I've seen this all too often. What's more amzing is when it happens, and the product that the sales rep is selling doesn't actually exist! (not that I'm complaining too much...the crazy amounts of overtime rocks hardcore)
Whoa....talk about a blast from the past...I lost years of my childhood to that game. The original and the sequel were pretty cool, though I never got into any others. Sometimes I'll still catch myself humming some of the ingame music.
my 64mb Rio500 dies! Heck I got that thing back in '98 and it's still working. It's survived car accidents (without skipping....ya I know it's a flash player), treadmills, windows(physical and software), and everything. Granted it has broken a few times, but nothing a little TLC (crack open the case the reflow some connections) didn't fix...either way I'm hoping for an ipod soon...but not holding my breath.
Though it was british not too long ago....though perhaps you could argue so was CS...
Ohhh man....it was a setup I swear....
Ya know the Mac came out before the IIgs did

Man this thread is boring...I think I'll find someone with a samsung and go copy some movies...

"1.21 jigawatts!"
it's "1.21 jigawatts" you idiot!
You didn't happen to have a Quadra 610 that you sold for $1000 after it was stolen and returned did you?
Dude my Tandy 200 that I had back in '85 had small magnets for a to keep it closed just like the powerbook/macbook does now....

true but coffee doesn't naturally assume the shape of coffee grounds....
what the crap??
heh, I'm glad I wasn't the only one scratching my head after that one.
