The fact is that in TOT, there were 3 known Jedi prior to Luke and 2 Sith. Even at a padawan skill level, Luke could have kicked some butt. There was no competition.
As to the final confrontation between Vader and Luke, who is to say the emperor wasn't manipulating Vader to keep the duel equal. A Sith master might have feared Vader's power. Vader did turn on his old master in ANH. A Sith master playing 2 off on each other...the Sith way.
What are you complaining about? A MUD admin decided to keep others from spying on your code without your permission? A MUD admin decided to prevent you from peeking at solutions to every quest and from learning the wc of every weapon, the ac of every armour, the location of every magic item?
If you are a talented coder, exactly what files are you going to need to see? You should have access to the base libraries already. If you do not know how to do something, ask a more experienced coder to help you or spend time actually reading the documentation.
Any well run MUD is going to have a policy on code ownership. YOU choose to join the ranks. If the MUD doesn't have a clear policy on code ownership or you disagree with it, then leave.
Blockbuster is only responding to the Netflix phenomenon. The "No late fees" program from Blockbuster is really not that different than Netflix' program.
It says right there in the billing agreement for Netflix "... we are permitted to bill you... movies you fail to return..."
Now, a check of Blockbuster's own website gives you their terms.
The terms seem pretty clear to me. If I return a movie up to 7 days late, I will not be charged a late fee. If I return it 8 days late, I pay a $1.25 restock fee as if I returned a movie I didn't like.
Orthodox Christian Christmas is generally celebrated January 7th, but its entirely up to the churches. Christ most likely wasn't born December 25th and the choice of December 25th is generally regarded as something the RCC selected to try to compete with the pagan rights surrounding the winter solstace.
Telecommuting is not the end-all, be-all solution for rush hour traffic. Not every office worker can perform their job from home. Nor would every office worker want to perform their job from home. As for tele-work centers, you still have the same problem of getting people from home to the centers.
...and the result of a successful lawsuit would be a silly coupon worth $.50 off your next purchase of a microsoft product...if you sign a document accepting terms.
the entire point of the riaa is to control distribution channels. personally, i love live music recordings. if a band needs to be remixed to make them sound good, then they are probably better off never touring. with high speed duping technology and feeds direct from the mixing board, the quality of the recording should match the quality of the event.
if you think it is only a novelty, you miss the point.
<soapbox>
i will help you there.
the point: a linux operating system can be ported to just about anything. here is one more platform developers have conquered.

this sounds like what David Brin describes as TRU-VU glasses in his novel "Earth".
they were not given to be a very good thing if you liked your privacy.
its done, IMHO, to provide a level of abastraction and make the mathematics easier to read.
even the romans realized that to write the number 1000, it would be easier to abstract with M than it would be to IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII...(you get the picture).
try walking as a minority in a white neighborhood after dark. then try walking as a minority in a minority neighborhood. your experiences would be different from those you describe.
you are trying to compare things that cannot be adequately compared. as long as our society tolerates attitudes like yours, people will feel excused to adopt racist attitudes.
please do not blame the world for the actions of a few desperate souls.
laws are not intended to make sense. laws keep lawyers and judges and congressmen and legislators and (etc) employed.
as long as M$ can prove they acted with due dilligence, they should be able to win the case. unfortunately, as with any lawsuit, aint no such thing as a sure thing.
the warmer the air, the more difficult it is for a mobile winged aircraft to remain aloft. the air is 'thinner' and has less 'mass' for the wings to push against.
i picture 'thopters as hybrid helos with a vertical wing. it would still need to find a way to fight counter-rotation.
overall, i would find such a vehicle wasteful energy-wise. that flight method requires a very lightweight airframe (birds have hollow bones).

How does not having a license prevent you from getting behind the wheel?
A person willing to drive while intoxicated has already shown an unwillingness to abide by the law.
Like...Texas?
The same thing an autoparts store calls it? Mmmmm...a RESTOCKING FEE?

Rename it 'core' :)
Any curious admin could tell by the filesize its probably an executable and not a document.
...or perhaps it has something to do with the UAW?
Did you meet her at band camp?
Thats "Land of the Free"(*) and "Home of the Brave"(+).

The polar icecap is not 100% at sea level.
Fill a glass with ice so the ice is well over the lip of the glass and wait for it to melt.
If they mated, would their offspring be a Segway that gets stuck in the corner?

The main reason is not bandwidth.
Paddles. They would snap when turned too far.
