iphone and android aren't really inclusive. open source is meant to be about choice and freedom.
the nokia n900 + maemo allows multiple languages and frameworks (x11 gtk qt sdl gles and whatever else you can throw at it) to peacefully coexist together:)
so hes the guy to blame for everyone thinking computer ui work is easy.
i would actually like to have some of the uis from movies to play around with and get a feel for.
downloading his mockups from the dvd and getting to play may even bring about an advancement of further ideas and maybe even improve computing for all of us:)
hahaha I had an opportunity earlier this year, I considered having a memory upgrade or a stylus inserted. I made a journal entry about it here when it happened, its still makes me wince.
Improvements and optimizations like this are ALWAYS welcome from any quarter. Sure, for a single page - w0000t, i saved 0.1 seconds doesn't do it many favours, but when you consider: lots of users open multiple tabs and load many hundreds of pages a day those savings start to add up.
Additionally, any optimizations done usually go towards powersaving and extending battery life.
in a mobile embedded platform its vital (nokia maemo platform for me..) and I'm sure these improvements and benefits will trickle down eventually.
heh no, my day job requires me to work in Visual basic in windows, I decided to take the plunge and jump into linux so I could develop my app for the nokia internet tablet.
its been an uphill struggle, but thanks to the community around maemo linux I have managed to overcome most issues and my daydreaming is slowly becoming a reality:)
started today off a bit muggy, some drizzle as I was driving into work, was warm enough though. then it got really dark, I thought we were in for a storm, but it passed and the sky cleared a bit - i saw some blue sky!
now theres some more dark clouds rolling in, hopefully they will pass later, its gettin a bit nippy out though.
need to remember my brolly later, so many people today forgot theirs and they might get wet on their way home.

you just lost it.

maybe i'm just the eternal optimist :)
My digital handwriting is getting much better nowadays.
some would say its revolutionary :)

i say why because my app only runs on linux (for now).
i don't know anything about multiplatform stuff and wouldn't even try to (I'm a VB developer..)
raw c, x11+xv is about as far as I know.
that sounds like a nice device. :)
hackable to run linux, or locked down do you think?
my liqbase should be ready by then too.
nothing wrong with it, its just a normal day.

There is nothing at all wrong with working within the constraints of a system and eeking out the absolute best you can from 'inferior' hardware.
Infact, having limited headroom forces innovative and new methods of doing what was taken for granted before.
The liqbase UI I am creating for the nokia handhelds makes use of these principles as well :)
it simply does the best it can within the low headroom of the available hardware.
