How about bookmarked tab groups? That's kind of handy. Personally, I like having more windows hidden away from the annoying taskbar clutter. Grouped items on the taskbar just annoys me mostly.... but I don't mind tabs in a separate location. And if I really want to flip through tabs by keyboard, Ctrl-Tab isn't any harder than Alt-Tab. For that matter, you can also install mouse gesture support or something similar, and between that and Ctrl-Tab you'll never have to click on the tabs themselves again.

Well, using Gentoo Linux and evolution you don't really need to do too much in the way of configuring... I just emerged the package and added a piped filter rule to evolution. Unfortunately, it didn't seem very usable to me... no easy way to train it from within evolution, and it was taking like one to three seconds per message to process, which is kind of frustrating when your account tends to receive 80+ spams a day. Well, I would guess that depends on where you're calling (how many places?) and the cost of the asterisk compatible VoIP phones. You could have one central Asterisk PBX and all the remote locations with net connections could have VoIP phones to use it... of course that solution wouldn't be as good for the remote locations being able to call internally. In that case maybe you could set up multiple Asterisk PBX's, one for each location with multiple VoIP phones.... the costs for setting up a Asterisk PBX are reasonable - I'm not sure about the phones themselves though.

I didn't say it was impossible for them to go after you and try to get you for something from your email. I said in the majority of cases it's not an issue. How many people do you know who've had all their email/records/etc requested by a goverment/whatever agency? I've heard of it happening for companies doing shady things, but I'm personally standing at a solid "0" for your average citizen.

So once again, if you're really paranoid, sure... go ahead and worry about it, but you'd best not bother having any type of distance correspondence at all then. If they really want to get you, with the right power they can eventually get through pretty much any type of encryption/precautions/etc (well, maybe not quantum? heh). And of course, even face-to-face contact can be eavesdropped.
