Yeah, my opinion on Mercury is mixed. One on hand test script development is a time consuming process that can involve nearly as much work as developing the product you are intending to test, especially when u are starting from the ground up. This isn't Mercury's fault, it's just the way it is, but Mercury will have you believe that all you do is install Winrunner, click the Record button and it records your test script as use your product, save the result and your work is done-all you have to do from now on is load your test script and click Run to test it. Rubbish!
Anytime the product changes you much change you test scripts accordingly, although if they are properly written it may be just a couple object names or the physical description of GUI objects that need modification.
On the other hand, it does remove the repetitiveness and tediousness out of regression and functional testing.
At a price tag of close to $10,000 per licence, Winrunner is not for everyone.
Er, so when did Linux stop being an OS and start being a cult-like religion?
I'd say around 1996. Either you've been in outerspace for the past 10 years, just heard of linux recently, or this is your first time logging into slashdot.
Yes, I've known that for a while, every time you perform an online transaction, even a statment download initiated from your banks website, quicken always connects to intuit, but you can block quicken from connecting to intuit.com if you use a personal firewall, and still dnload your transactions. When you attempt to download your transactions to Quicken, the fw pops up a notice that quicken wants to connect to some intuit.com website, eventhough I am connecting to my bank instead, and do I want to continue. I click NO and the transactions are still downloaded.
Or when compared to Paintshop Pro, Ulead, etc, etc, etc. Gimp has the worst interface of almost any program, not just image editors. While they are at it, change the name too-calling a product GIMP is just plain stupid and childish.
The enemies work together as a team Meaning the enemies come running at you in single file, or they all stand out in the open and never move, or when you shoot one that's fireing at you over a wall another replaces him in a few seconds at the exact same spot.
and your friends do what they should. Meaning they constantly block your way, can't hit the broad side of a barn, and run straight toward gun turrets.
I thought the AI in HL2 was pretty weak and rudimentary, in an otherwise enjoyable game.
Ok I understand now. I originally assumed you meant if you lived in Ontario for a long time(years) then wanted to move to somewhere else in Canada, say Alberta, you'd have to reimburse OHIP.
Oh, and for this benefit, at least in Ontario, you have to agree to never leave the province or pay back whatever health services you ever received at whatever rate is dictated.
Baloney! Can you provide a reference?
You don't pay back your money for services if you leave, in fact, OHIP pays for up to 3 months of your coverage if you move to another province, just like most other provinces do.
You're probably referring to snowbirds, ppl that live outside of Ontario for much of the year yet keep their primary residence is listed as Ontario. If you travel (ie. Florida for the winter) you lose your healthcare benefits after a certain number of months, which makes sense.
My net pay is around 69%, after taxes, company group health ($20/month), Canada Pension, Employment Insurance, and $6/paycheck for use of the weightroom. I put in $80/month towards my RRSP(Retirement fund-401K I think it is stateside), and the company puts in an additional $170/month.
The taxes they take off are pretty dead bang on so when tax time comes I owe or receive only a few dollars.
For medical needs not covered my government healthcare, my company's group health covers 95% of most stuff-most dental, optomotrists, chiropractors, prescriptions. That's for around $20/month-family plan is higher, around $60. Tooth caps they pay 60%. Full wages are payed for 6 months if you are unable to work, then 60% after that til you die.
I get 3 weeks paid vacation + 9 days paid holidays, + a onetime extra week of vacation my 5th year (next summer!). We have the week off between Xmas & newyears if we use up a couple of our vacation days.
Now this company is better than the rest I worked at previously. Others did not have a retirement play or group health, or they offered heath at much higher premiums.
After looking at it, I guess things aren't always greener south of the border, just warmer.
the line change for Vader from "Bring my shuttle" to "Alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival" was a bad idea.
I agree completely.
but I think that the original line and delivery better contributed to Vader's character arc, as the voice always sounded morose to me...like he was either angry with Luke or himself
ditto! Now he sounds like he doesn't give a shit, it's just another day at the office.
. If you have a pirated copy and are against Microsoft, then STOP USING WINDOWS instead of whining that it's overpriced, bug-ridden and poorly designed
You forgot one important piece of info-the BSOD still occurs! Automatic Restart does not prevent the blue screen from appearing, it just reboots the machine after the memory is dumped to disk. During the memory dump the friendly neighborhood blue screen still appears with the KMODE_ or whatever error message.
So you're saying that people sitting in front of their computer are not going to notice a blue screen, even if only appears for 10-30 seconds? Sheesh! Plus most users leave whatever appps they're working on running and just lock their computer overnite. You think that users wouldn't start to notice the long login procedure and that their apps are no longer running if their machines were BSOD'ing overnite? Double sheesh!
FYI, Win2kProf automatically reboots by default after BSOD's also.
With the obvious exception of Greedo shooting first I am being serious here.
I do to, other than Luke screaming as he falls after jumping off the platform in Cloud City, the sly snoodles and other silly Jabba palace extras, and Han now saying "It's Ok I can see much better now" from "It's OK, Trust me" when he's shooting the tentacle off Lando's leg in the pit of Sarlac, and the jumpy editing when adding the new scenes when Vader is leaving cloud city, and of course Greeto cant hit the broad side of a barn shot, I prefer the SE too.
Pre-SE after Luke jumps off the platform, when Vader says "Bring my shutle" he seems pissed, angry, and seems affected by Luke's rejection. Now Vader says "Inform the Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival" in a "Oh well, my son is jumped off and is probably dead. too bad, so sad" like it doesn't mean anything.
Anyways, these little changes may seem nitpicky but some of them really changed how some scenes are perceived.
It constantly uses technology that was not present in the Star Trek series
TODAY we use technology that was not present in the original Star Trek series. I love seeing the analog scrolling countdown clocks Sulu looks at.
But seriously, I agree with you. Never thought it could get worse than Voyager, and their ability to replace good writing and plots with their weekly "modulate the shield harmonics" or "modify phaser frequency/resonance/etc" to get them out of any tight situation, but Enterprise showed me different.
I know that a DNS client is not a DNS server. Ok, I was just making sure.:)
they should label it a DNS cache, NOT DNS Client. Oh I agree, and figuring out what MS services do and which ones to turn off is not always straighforward. They all have important "the-system-needs-this" sounding names and most of them have a description that says "Disabling this will prevent any process that relies on it from working"
Interestingly, when I installed SP2 I noticed all the services I had disabled previously were turned on again-IIS, IIS Admin, Alerter, Remote Registry, etc.
Smallville, I belive, is filmed just outside of Vancouver BC. That's why Kansas looks like it has more forest than prairie.

Individuals and small companies dont have the resources to apply for, fight for, or fight against patents.
Only corporations can afford the time and money to do that.
How is this supposed to help the people?
Yes, I've known that for a while, every time you perform an online transaction, even a statment download initiated from your banks website, quicken always connects to intuit, but you can block quicken from connecting to intuit.com if you use a personal firewall, and still dnload your transactions. Your bank?
I have a 15" widescreen and 17" LCD and both dont' have dead pixels. Or am I just lucky?
Why would you download and burn SP2 each time you install XP? I think once is enough.
Or when compared to Paintshop Pro, Ulead, etc, etc, etc. Gimp has the worst interface of almost any program, not just image editors. While they are at it, change the name too-calling a product GIMP is just plain stupid and childish.

I thought so too, until you said you think these cars are cool.

You probably also think drilling to the center of the earth to start the core rotating again is a bunch of hollywood movie hype, don't you?
Every good FPS since Half-Life has had the same formula too.
Geez you must be young.
