My gods, please don't take yet another PC game that works so fantastically with the keyboard-mouse combination and 'dumb it down for the masses' that use console controls. Note, I'm not saying console gamers are dumb, just the controls are in many types of games.
Obviously you've never used a Mac, otherwise you'd know that their memory requirements are about half of what windows needs for comparable performance. What they've been shipping with is adequate for most stuff, even some video editing.
Not sure what you mean by keeping their cool, but you can't be referring to heat since they both run cooler than any PC.
Removable components would definitely be welcome, especially a way to upgrade the video and HD.
Considering there's no physical distribution or packaging involved I would expect Steam's prices to be 20% cheaper than a retail store but they are not,and in fact they are the same price. As with you, if I factor in the exchange rate I pay more, but strangely, Steam doesn't ding me with tax.
" protests have sprung up on blogs, message boards, and a new Facebook group called 'People Against the new Terms of Service'"
Ya that'll show them. All Facebook has to do is wait a couple weeks until the backlash dies down. By that time all of these protesters will have resumed their normal Facebook addiction. Out of all these protesters, how many will actually voice their dissatisfaction by actually canceling or ceasing their use of Facebook? 1%? Maybe 2%?
It's "just" a way to see that X's new baby is cute, Y's cat is fluffy and silly, and Z's found a fun link or something. Done by email it'd be spam
It's still spam whether you see it in an email msg or on FB, but under FB it's under the guise of "status updates" and it's only slightly less annoying. I don't care about X's baby, Y's cat, or Z's stupid link that was old five years ago. You still are almost forced to read endless and useless stuff from casual acquaintances such as "Susan is thinking", "Dan wants a new guitar", "Tara likes the snow" when you just care to see what a few people are up to.
The embargo affects more than just the US. Foreign companies that do business in Cuba are forbidden to do business in the U.S. Any ship carrying goods to Cuba cannot dock in a U.S. controlled port for a period of something like 6 months.
Apple hardware is overpriced compared to what? A $599 no-name PC? As the old saying goes "you get what you pay for." After being fed up with windows and got tired bored with Linux, I got my first iMac last year and it is the best computer I've ever had. No crashes, fast, reliable, doesn't slow down in time like Windows does, and has a sleep mode that actually "just works":I don't mean works 80% of the time, or three out of four times, I mean 100% of the time.
Soon after that I got my first iPod, a nano. Lately I got an iPod touch and that is the best mp3 player/portable device I've ever had. Once again, unlike other devices that use touch technology, the iPod touch "just works"
Bank accounts, bonds, stocks, and most other items in your portfolio can be viewed online nowadays so why are people still using quicken to track this stuff? It was the cat's meow in the 90's when you didn't have access to all of your financial information online, but nowadays I got better things to do than type in or download all my financial transactions each week. Besides, most peoples' spending and savings habits don't change whether you use financial software or use not...software ain't going to make you a great investor.

Chiro works for pinched nerves in my neck usually in one treatment. A 'mainstream' MD would probably prescribe a weeks' worth of muscle relaxants.
As much as I hate to recommend Rogers, you can get their Hi-Speed internet service w/o any cable services with no additional charge. At least in Ontario.
Dry DSL is offered by many ISP's, but you have to pay a fee around $10-15/month to Bell in addition to your ISP fees if you don't get a land line phone.
versus someone who can remember a time when the Internet did not exist."
Dude, most people have only been using the Internet a mere 15 years or less so the majority of people remember a time before the Internet. Don't make it sound like we were born during the Great Depression.
The ease of the offense: We're not talking Ctrl-X Ctrl-Y, we're talking about a man taking a digital camcorder into a movie theater, setting himself up in a good vantage point, taking pains to conceal the camera (he used a sock or something, IIRC, to hide the recording indicators) -- are all these easy? Would the average moviegoer do this? You tell me.
Oh brother, you're over dramatizing what he did and making his actions sound like their some elaborate plot from a spy thriller novel! His actions were not any more complicated that a person pulling out a cell phone and clicking the talk button. He recorded a movie....big deal. The average person knows how to use a camcorder, just like the average person knows how to use "Ctrl-X Ctrl-Y" as you say. What he did does not justify jail time, and it's right that he did not get any.
Gimp developers don't care what you think. People have been very vocal in requesting this product undergo a name (as well as UI!)change to something less silly, childish, and stupid since it came out in the late 90's, and they haven't done it so it ain't going to happen now. GIMP is destined to always conjure images about either: a) that disturbing dude from pulp fiction as you mentioned, or b) children who have some affliction or disability that causes them difficulty when walking.
but people just wink at the silliness because they like the shiny gadgets. Well I'm winking at the silliness of your comment eventhough it's not shiny. This is all over the news, so Apple ain't exactly getting a "free pass" as you put it.
If M$ did this, people would be all over them Yes they would, and rightfully so. Like a famous president once said:"Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice....uh..um...wont get fooled again"

It's still hotter than any other smartphone!
Are netbooks anything other than "entry level".
MAC haters are so sad....
Ethics-schmethics! Of those 100000 users, how many do you think would have purchased it if they couldn't copy it? It sure the hell isn't all of them!
1 pirated copy != 1 lost sale; it's probably more like 10000 pirated copies = 1 lost sale.

New PC games are bad enough at $49, but console games run from $59 to $69 which is outrageous.

So I don't know why the submitter has to turn this into an Apple-bashing thing.
Because the submitter wants to sound like an r34l cool h4Xo5?
Umm...yes!
So where do I get and how do I install the drivers on my audio receiver so I can dock my USB-only iPod to it? Hmm??

As I said above you get what you pay for.
I was excited when I upgraded XP to OSX last May, and now, eight months later, OSX still excites me in ways XP never could!
No kidding, the original poster and the people that modded it as +5 insightful are just showing their ignorance. Go pop your pills.

Hey, you're a poet!
(in case you didn't know it)
Tarren Mill v. Southshore fights were quite fun for awhile. Oh those were a hoot in the good ol' days of WOW.
