There's other stuff at play here, though. Maybe Google just want to get it polished before releasing an officially-endorsed tablet-compatible version of Android. Nothing stoppign you buying a Froyo Android tablet now, anyway.
Some issues - resolution. Android can cope with different resolution but a lot of apps aren't written that way. Maybe they need to enforce this a bit to avoid old apps looking awful. Also the Google Market isn't officially available to devices that don't run telephony. Any tablet that comes out is going to need to work with something like Google Market as the general public isn't going to want to have to manually sideload apps to their tablet. Maybe something along the lines of Appbrain.com is coming from Google?
well, on the Tab you're not getting AMOLED as they've run out of them. This is why they're shipping with "Super TFT". HTC are doing it with the Desire, too.

Um, I'm at work. This is a/. posting machine, that occasionally gets used for other things
Yep, isoprop alccohol's the best thing I can think of for most plastics. Annoyingly, in the UK you can't buy the bloody stuff any more! Chemists won't sell it, presumably because some idiot has decided that people are likely to drink it or something. The only way I can get hold of it is by buying the impregnated individual paper toweletters designed for removing sticking plasters...!
What he said. A home UPS or surge protector strip is going to be about as much use as a chocolate teapot in the event of a lightning strike on your home.
Also, if you're going to start diconnecting things in the event of hearing thunder, don't forget the coax aerial cable in the back of your TV if you have a roof aerial. These are prime targets for lightning strikes, and I have known it happen.
Oh, my mistake. It's freely available though, if you google. Mobilism.org has it, for example. My point is that you're not dependent on Samsung for it, and also that alternatives (that I think are better) such as SlideIT are also available.
Head over to xda-developers.com and install a rooted ROM. It's pretty easy, and they're very nice. Tend to be faster, more featureful and more stable than OEM if you pick the right one. I like AuraxTSense 7.1 on my Desire. It also adds open VPN, which is pretty nice.
Well, yes, if you go check the release notes it'll tell you exactly what doesn't work. It'll be a small list. On current version I think there's a bug that occasionally prevents phone from sleeping, draining battery. It'll be fixed.
CM ROMs do NOT include Sense UI -they are "clean" Android. Personally I like Sense, which is why I'm using the AuraxTSense 7.1 ROM from XDA Devs on my HTC Desire. It's lovely. Now the CM code is out, they basically set a gold-standard baseline for others to tinker with.
Seriously, the community ROMs tend to be more stable than the OEM ones - and they fix bugs, rather than ignore them.
CM won't, but someone on XDA Devs probably will, by standing on the shoulders of the CM code.
P.S. Swype's available in the market! I prefer SlideIT though. Either way, you can put it on any Android phone.
UK has very high fuel taxation, AND road tax increases exponentially the more CO2 the car puts out. The latter has made a massive difference to the cars that fleets buy, which has in turn made a big difference to the design by manufacturers. Oh, and we pay road tax too for each vehicle, which again costs more the bigger your car is.
Presumably someone was asked to put a cost on replacement including all the licences, internal charging of their tech department to rebuild, reconfigure, etc. A midrange server running Oracle enterprise and a few big apps can cost quite a bit when inflated that way. It's a bit like when cops do a drug bust and quote the value of the seizure as if it were all chopped up into single gramme baggies and sold at full street price...
That would stop it. It would also destroy your car, assuming it was made in the last 20 years. An EMP blast would destroy any electronics in your car, and there's a lot of them.
Plus, the day EMP guns (google "HERF") are generally available to the public, we'll ghave bigger problems. Imagine one of those trained on a hospital. Or a major financial trading floor.
Because people aren't necessarily rational, and people are willing to pay a premium for certain products, regardless of utility.
Think of it this way: you're thirsty. You can go get a drink from the water cooler for nothing, you can pick up a Coke for £1 from the vending machine or you can go and spend £3.50 on a mochachochagrandelatte from a high street global conglomerate coffee shop. All will fix your thirst. It's not "wrong" per se to choose something that's more expensive if you want to. It might be misguided, or you might get enough enjoyment from "the experience" that it's worth the money. YMMV.
surely the point is that the washer will go "bip bip boo biddy biddy beep beep" and the tech will know that the motor is indicating a fault code, and their replenishment system will order him a new one so when he visits the site he just swaps it out? Can't really believe that rebooting a washing machine is going to fix anything...
Mod up. Looks like Security did him a favour.
More importantly, will the code fit on a T-Shirt, so it can be exported?
"Very" and "No". It's a transformer. There are probably 30 or so in your house right now.

Yep. XBMC or Boxee Box (when released) FTW.

You can boot Ubuntu on a Nexus One. And Win95, should you be masochistic enough to try it. I also run PSX4DROID as a playstation emulator!

You're probably correct, but if you google "Dead Hand" there are some intersting and quite detailed counter theories from the midst of the cold war.

Yes, god forbid they have to reengineer the antenna on the iPhone 4.
Hi AC.
It'll be fine.
