CC is providing the (paid) service of format conversion just as Winamp Pro would.

  2. Re:Circuit City has cash for the fight on Circuit City Ripping DVDs for Users · · Score: 1

Yeah, I don't see how this is different from buying the pro version of Winamp and using it to rip mp3's. The software, for which you paid, is doing service of format shifting for you and I'm pretty sure Winamp couldn't get in trouble for it.

I hate it when I lose my principal. That happened once at my high school and the entire school degenerated into chaos. We were literally fighting each other with scissors and slide rules. TI-89's make surprisingly good projectiles. But then we found him in a dumpster downtown. We're not sure what he was doing there, but it was great getting our principal back.

Well, you'd have to rewire the optical nerves so to speak. I believe I've heard in my Symbolic Systems class that in mice they switched the nerves for vision and smell (or maybe it was sound?) and their brains adapted to that.

  11. Re:English is a complex language. on Time To Stop Calling Them Games? · · Score: 1

English is the only European language without noun gender. Old English did have gender, but it died out after the Viking invasions when English became more simplified as a bunch of Vikings learned English. English is a lot simpler than a lot of other languages; there are a lot of special cases, but that's true of just about any language. The number of words in a language doesn't say much about its complexity.

GIMP can't even work with CMYK. For anything that's printed, GIMP is pretty much useless for professionals. Its JPEG export function sucks too. Whenever I design something for the web in GIMP, I end up exporting it to its final form in Photoshop anyway.
