I just use a normal remote. But then again all I do is normal STB type stuff. No surfing or anything that would need a keyboard. I've seen wireless trackball keyboards, but nothing I'd want to use.
VoIP is very good competition for the POTS phone companies. Its funny now I see plans for $50/mo unlimited long distance. A few years ago I can remember a friend paying gigantic sums of money on long distance phone bills. Now for $50, its an all-you-can-eat buffet.
I remember posting a long time ago to the forums, and apparently it was the umpteenth time it had been requested, but for some of the stuff in the Tabbrowser Extensions module to be incorporated into the core of phoenix/firebird/firefox. Aza said no, and that was kind of it. I still believe to this day that tabbed functionality is left out of firefox, and I wouldnt believe its that expensive to put in.
Some things in plugins nowadays should be incorporated into core browser functionality.
Yea, I agree, this season has actually compelled me to watch. I watched the first few episodes of the series, and lost interest eventually. But this season has brought me back. This arc with the Xindi is really interesting. Maybe a little long... but still interesting none the less..
This same thing I described happened on AOL in the mid/late 90s, eventually they wised up but it took em a few years. I'm sure someone will try it now...
It could easily be a pirates den. If a CD in MP3s is roughly 100MB, users go into some IRC channel, request with an gmail addy and then it magically shows up in their inbox to download and delete. All at google's disk space and bandwidth.
Yes, in fact the "Justice" department encourages the use of the PATRIOT ACT against anyone and anything. The idea is to make it so entrenched in the way they do business, that to repeal it when the terrorist threat goes away (or at any time really) because a very big issue of public safety.
An example of this was the G-Sting operation in Las Vegas, the feds used the PATRIOT ACT against owners of strip clubs.
And still banned from the FE/PLS/PE exams

A lot of the shortage has to do with the fact that companies are not starting to split their resources between DDR and DDR2. Between that, and the fact that it seems like companies may buy lots of replacement computers this year (2001 was the last strong year for purchasing, and 3-year replacement cycles are typical).
So yea, be prepared to pay higher prices for gas, milk (and associated dairy products like ice cream), meat, RAM and who knows what else this year.
Yes, there needs to be a corporate death penalty. Revoke the business license/corporate charter that put it together in the first place. If everyone is out of a job all of a sudden, people (the peons in the organization, which also make up the majority of people in the org.) will say something, and hopefully public outrage against corporate entities takes it from there.
If the data comes from/goes to a HD, if you take the HD out of the equation the limit goes away (for a while, perhaps)./dev/random to/dev/null isnt all that limited by HD speed. Or you can replace magnetic storage w/ something else.
I dont see the monorail anywhere on there....
You know you can get DDR for the PS2. Along with the mat. No public embarassment needed. Unless you have your friends over...

And by then $1000 will be a pittance!
diesel is now way cheaper then gasoline.
Have you been to california lately? Diesel is just as expensive in california as premium unleaded gasoline is in california.
On MSNBC's tech show (I forgot what it was called) back in the mid 90s. On a related note, Leo did the voice for Dev Null on that show.

I'm not thinking about "backing up" movies, I'm speaking to large data backups.

A recent article showed that the DL write speeds at 2.4x. So you can spend 45mins burning 1 DL DVD, or 2x 15min burning two DVDs at 8x.
