    Perfect example of phrasing the question in order to get the desired response. All this survey tells me is that almost 2/3s of the respondents didn't understand the question.

    My guess is that this was neither war nor mass murder. More like an armed gang plundering a village, same as the Vikings raiding England.

    Good tools cost more, whether made in USA or China. The author's point is that many tools made in China are crap, and they don't cost as much as good tools.

    That's my understanding. It's an East versus West thing - Eastern mindset is "if you don't catch me cheating I'm a clever businessman"

    That's not how most sane, non-SJW's define it.

    That's how it's been defined in private industry for decades (although it has eased off a bit in recent years).

    If a member of a protected class feels threatened or uncomfortable, they were harassed. Period. Should I tell a woman I like her new haircut? Nope - that can be taken as a sexual advance - lawsuit time.

    I mostly agree with what you say - "quality" journalism really means carefully researched and well written, but usually still one sided. NYT and NPR are the most obvious examples of this.

    In the past people had to pay for journalism by buying newspapers, magazines, or watching/listening to advertising, so the outlets that marketed themselves as "quality" had it easier - the price was essentially the same for consumers whether the journalism appeared good or bad. Today the choice is free for rehashed wire service stories or pay for the perception of a better product. And people are choosing free.

    The labor force participation rate is at historic lows, thanks in part to Obama easing eligibility rules for disability and expanding unemployment benefits.

    Think about how many hours of that 40 hour week go towards carrying people who are living on transfer payments.

    It is very, very difficult to institutionalize someone against their will - personal freedoms and all that.

    Why do you think there are so many homeless people wandering the streets? Everyone agrees they are mentally ill and need help, but you can't force help on them unless they are violent.

    Would you want the police to have the authority to decide you need to be locked away and drugged into a stupor?

    It was a research project. I'm sure they never intended it to be something that would be deployed yet, so there was no reason to make it stealthy.

    No, they said it was a successful prototype and they intend to continue development on the next model, based in part on what they learned from this one. Normal R&D.
