L: Actually, I have never even checked 386BSD out; when I started on Linux it wasn't available (although Bill Jolitz' series on it in Dr. Dobbs' Journal had started and were interesting), and when 386BSD finally came out, Linux was already in a state where it was so usable that I never really thought about switching. If 386BSD had been available when I started on Linux, Linux would probably never had happened.
If Linus had done enough research he would never have started Linux because FreeBSD did everything he wanted it to do.
Give the guy a break, at least people are trying to do something new. He took his own time to write the software, and give it away and all people here can do is bitch about it. If you don't like it, don't use it.
I'm interested but...

I've always been interested in the more technical aspects of this hobby, but everytime I look into it, I don't get too excited about being able to talk on a glorified CB with a bunch of old codgers with some expensive equipment.
I'd be more interested if I could use it for data.
It is my understanding that you can connect a remote control device to your MythBox which then knows how to change the channels on your digital cable box. Your digital cable box of course outputs regular coax, otherwise how would your tv be able to display it?
Its going to be a joy when something important implementing Mono gets patented. Do you really doubt they are going to do it? Heck, they probably already bought a patent Sun got while doing Java.
It will be even more interesting when all of Gnome is implemented with Mono. Maybe I'm the only one who finds it ironic that a desktop environment founded because the KDE license wasn't free enough is falling over themselves to implement Microsoft technology.
APT-RPM, Ximian Red Carpet. Those tools make installing software in Redhat trivial. Good luck compiling your system everytime you want to install something:)
Doing a 5 minute search on Google did not back up your claims that DHCP is a MS protocol. Please cite your sources else I'll believe it is a IETF standard.

Google does search. Google does not do horoscopes, financial advice or chat."
Yeah, Google doesn't do news, Google doesn't do e-mail, Google doesn't do social networks, Google doesn't do blogs, and Google certainly doesn't do price comparisons.
Same thing with desktop. First they start spouting crap that Linux isn't ready for the desktop, the next thing you hear is that they are coming out with a desktop distro. Get some real leadership again RedHat, I switched to Debian because of this crap.
Okay you are right, I mis-recalled this:
M: What is your opinion of 386BSD?

This was funny a couple years ago. Please stop.

Can someone explain the nerd connection to me? I'm not seeing it.

Not the ideal solution, but it is possible.
Yeah, even if Miguel could win the court battle, can his company afford the court costs?

You mean Michael Moore himself doesn't put out sensationalist crap?
Riiiiiiiight.
So is Apple ever going to drop the pricing on the other models when they come out with more "advanced" ones?
I didn't know we let Bill Gates post as anonymous coward. That explains a lot actually.
So does that give you a dual boot between OSX and OS9 or does that just let you install OSX?
Why do you hate Apple so much?

Face it, Gentoo sucks.
Why do "U" write "you" as "U"?

Its not bad if the issues are being carefully thought through and considered. I'd rather see the EU be PRO-something than ANTI-asomething.
One gets the impression we could make the EU do anything we wanted with reverse psychology.

Those chips are not rated for space. Radiation hardening is important from what I understand.
