  1. Re:Wii only gets 16% marketshare?!? on PS3 Predicted to Lead Market Through 2011 · · Score: 1

Exactly dude. The control actually makes the games! How else could Nintendogs be played? Or course one can always use a mouse but it takes away the personal touch when petting the dog. This touch screen control makes this game possible. There're many more such as Big Brain Academy, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, and surprisingly Tony Hawk's American Sk8land that uses/needed a touch screen. TH needed it because you really run out of buttons/hands for tricks, heh.

This time around with the Wii, golf is no longer about pixel-perfectness of your middle finger on the A button, or an awkward slide with the mouse; jedi knight isn't about pwning noobs with circle strifing; and house of the dead might not come out with a typing version anymore.

And it was never the console that makes me buy the console, or the brand or technology for that matter. It's the games. SMB for NES, Y's for PC Engine, Crazy Taxi for DC, GT4 and WE for PS'2, and now if Mr. Lucas say one word, I would kill for the Wii.

Whoever posted this article probably never met anyone who can't sing, or who had formal training and still can't sing, or those who think they can sing but it's way off, or in my sister's case, can sing, but in a different key eventhough she hears the song at the same time in karaoke.

What I meant by "can't sing" isn't the inability to give a tonal vocal jibjab, but that no matter how hard they try, can't really grasp the trick to singing (ignoring the breathing factor already here). But at the same time there're those who never had formal music training and can sing perfectly well on their first try (first poke at karaoke).

I've also found that those who can't sing usually can't whistle. As whistling is like blowing with a specific vocal cord position.

And this article's telling me, if my sister goes thru the same training I did (pretty shitty, 2 years of highschool band, 1 year in choir and that's it), she'll be singing like me. I don't chink so.

I mean here I sit working my ass, succumbed to my own ignorance. Well of course I smile when I turn on my NDS Lite :) And that ain't no barter.

However it does make you think doesn't it. Whether someday a star-trek no money society will actually come from the way we do things today. Who, and what group will ban money so to speak. Who would give up the "freedom" as you stated, or as someone developed the "transporter" to materialize "things", money really goes away. And the NYSE magically gone.

I truly hope that the answer is yes, we'll get there. But the rational side of me tells me otherwise. The greed of us.

  5. Re:This is great and all but on Shuttle Launch Success · · Score: 1

This world and the way we live it will never end. If you take a moment and meditate with me: Money is a form of control developed by the powerful. The barter system would transfer power semi-randomly, and those who hunger for power cannot allow that. A group of these smart people developed money. That in turn developed way to make it. A job, which is another form of control. Not a career but a job I am talking about. I am not talking about mr. gates. For he's also caught in this vortex of control because the world we live in now, everyone is stuck in this. It's so scary cuz it's no longer the group of smart men, it's became an idea. Just like terrorism, an idea. And ideas can't be beaten. Those who think they're in control (the riches) are actually not because as Neo said, you're only in control if you can turn it off. Today, even the Saudi's with oily can't turn this off. And we're fucked. If you look as far as you can into the future, this form of existence will not end unless a world war 3 happens in which case, the space exploration will be pushed back further. To me, I am not afraid of dying from a worldwide nuclear strike. I am sad that I KNOW the world we live in ain't ever gonna change, even after I am long gone.
