After you vote it shows percentages and Serenity has 86% of the vote apparently. Screen shot posted here.
So either Serenity is winning, or that is the most miss leading user interface I have seen. Perhaps both!
As a landlord I talked to local Police and Sherif Deputy's and they have said the team that sees the most violence in the department is the eviction team.
Keep that in mind next time you play GTA or watch Miami Vice reruns.
I like the 65 yearold grandmother example. And given that, this app looks interesting.
The security features could make it an interesting app for businesses; keeping legal, personal, and medical records safe.
If you live in a region where electricity comes from coal power, much more mercury will be put in the air from burning coal to power an incandescent bulb, than is contained in a CFL (which can be safely recycled). Granted a CFL won't work too well as refrigerator light....
Mercury is found in many rocks including coal. When coal is burned, mercury is released into the environment. Coal-burning power plants are the largest human-caused source of mercury emissions to the air in the United States, accounting for over 40 percent of all domestic human-caused mercury emissions.
Yea, because international criminals don't think "I'd like part of that $17 Trillion market in the US. I figure a good bit of online fraud is international organized crime. Is that wrong?
While I like the idea of manned exploration, I think sending in robots, or near autonomous robots first is a good idea. For tasks like this they have great advantages of more simple life sort. I envision a large roomba.
PS. It was hard not to just post "Cylons were created by man . .."
I would not be surprised if this was an attempt by MS to spread Silverlight. Like the deal they made for Olympic coverage videos. They might have paid Netflix big buckets of money for this deal. If so looks like it will back fire on both companies.
Since I opted for the Wii instead of a PS3, I don't know about those small games. Smart developers will always figure it out. But smart business minded developers will go to biggest bang for the buck.
There is an interesting link on Solar Thermal power at the bottom of the article. I think it is worth reading in relation to photovoltaic power options.
Well it is a DIY job for 80% of the effort. And frankly a sizable percentage of the Slashdot readership is probably geeky enough to do it all. If you aren't an electrical geek then you will need an electrician to wire up the inverter and connect to the power grid. Really it not much more complicated than correctly wiring up a generator to your house for use during those weather related power outages. (Pretty common where I am; we get both hurricanes and winter ice storms.)
While I would love to see this be the beginning of the end to the abuse of tax payer money for the services of the RIAA, I expect they will be around for a while.
I really do think the thousands of lawsuits they have brought are an unfair burden to the governments that support the courts these suits clog up. We have more important things to do with money in times like these. The RIAA needs to get with the program and give the people what they want, in the format they want it in. If they don't then ultimately they will be pushed aside no matter how ugly or bloody (hopefully figuratively) the battle becomes.
Wow. Just when you thing they can't shoot themselves in the foot again. (Hasn't Sony run out of feet?)
Apple gets it, see the App Store for the iPhone. Microsoft gets it, they really focus on wooing developers.
Hopefully this was an idea lost in translation. If he said "Its not easy to develop for because if we focus on that, then it wouldn't be the console with the most FLOPS."; then I could deal with.
Sony losses money on the console. They need titles to make money on the over all project. To get titles they need developers. They need a VERY low cost PS3 developer boot camp to teach the tricks of the console and to encourage developers to write more games.
Not more than 4 months ago I was thinking someone should make a note book with slide out screen. In fact I would mind 2 slide out screens. More and more often I an very greedy for additional screen real estate.
Working with a standard 15" notebook screen is like drafting on a napkin with a magic marker. Its good for making notes. but not for serious detailed work.
Picking an Open source project to contribute to is on my short list of things to do when/if laid off.
I also plan to work on for profit code (or code I hope will make a profit), but contributing to OSS is something I plan to do with the new found 50 hours a week of free time, should that happen.
That would be interesting if the chance to read naughty lit in public drives the sales of a $350 e-book reader.
US publci sckool sytim, babbie
I voted and then it showed a graph with Serenity having 86% of the votes. A screen shot is posted here.
I grant it appears to be a miss leading GUI design on the pole system.

Shouldn't he be using craigslist as a honey pot to catch prostitutes and johns?
If I can sell a used game to help of set the cost of a new one, then I might buy the new one where as before I would limit my buying much more.
Has a third party tested limewire to make sure it is safe?

Its interesting how one mans "Spread by word of mouth" or viral marketing is another man's pirating.

Since HTTP was thought up at CERN, did they not have a browser? Or was it just text based?

Blog Post on the articles.

My guess is that they want it as easy to use and configure securely as possible. Its time to ask yourself, what would Steve Jobs do?

Cringely's new block has post claiming Steve has dropped off the internet.
Read what you want into that or take it with a grain of salt.
Well stop doing that.
