    Unfortunately the arcade died years ago.

    That's true about the US, but it's certainly not true about Japan where arcades enjoy a huge popularity.
    Maybe that's going to change now that Nintendo DS and Sony PSP make high-quality multi-user gaming evreywhere possible.
    Another country I've seen where arcades still are very popular is Spain. I don't know why, might be because there are so many tourists or because many people don't have a video game console or a PC at home.

    IMHO, the rating "M" doesn't equal "mature" games, e.g., I don't consider Postal 2 or GTA "mature".
    (But yes, I like them. I'm just a particularly immature 30-year-old nerd).

    IANAP (I am not a physicist) but this sounds really strange. I mean, it's a sticker.
    Can anybody with more knowledge on this topic estimate if this could possibly/likely improve battery life (or reduce memory effects)?

    I hope you're right. The link provided in the article doesn't provide much information about the nature of the attack.

    Searching on BBC for "lynx" shows that this browser is very popular in Britain, they even named a real animal after it.

    What *I* don't get is why they're illegalizing games that are "pirated". What does that mean? They saw a guy selling pirated copies of FIFA on the street, so then they're blocking imports of that game entirely?

    This is China. On every corner someone approaches you an tries to sell pirated DVDs, games, etc.
    Police seems to ignore that.
    Now if they see a guy selling copies of an illegal game I'm afraid, this guy might soon stand on a corner in Inner Mongolia (with other problems than selling illegal DVDs)

    Copyright violation is no big issue in China. Selling potentially government-critical stuff is.

    I think the original Wolfenstein 3D as well as Quake and Quake II were developed on NeXT hardware running NextStep, OS X's direct predecessor.
    ID said, PCs simply crashed too often to be used for game development. At that time, at least.

    Haven't you read on FOXnews that there's nothing to worry about?
    Apparently, the whole global warming-thing is just hyped by the U.N. Because they want to destroy the American economy. Bad guys. We can be glad that GWB doesn't give a shXXX uh, isn't so easily confused by science.

    why would I plunk down $90 US (with the NES cartridge adapter) to play games on the road?

    • because it allows you to play legally purchased games ;-)
    • does your palm have TV-out?
    • as you said: controls... (esp. important in jump'n'run games)
    • high nerd-factor to have a dedicated device to play 15-year-old games
