  1. Re:Sorry no on PHP 5.0 Goes For Microsoft's ASP-dot-Net · · Score: 2, Informative

I use php all the time, but php is more like the old asp than .Net. .Net is much richer in exeception handing and allows me to use any language I want. Php is great but not a stab at the heart of .Net. They have nothing like VStudio.

    Quote from article:

PHP 5's major new achievements come in the area of its exception handling and a new object that introduces features that bring true OOP to PHP

And my opinion added on: You do not need to use something like VStudio for anything smaller than enterprise sized ASP.net or PHP development. Textpad is more than adequate. I really dont see what u will gain by using some huge IDE for personal development.

3 or 4 to 1 compression is highly unlikely

Assume random data gets 2 to 1 using common algorithms like huffman or LZ (i dont know how to spell their names, so i wont try)

Database data MIGHT be better...but not that much better.

Also consider any files that can easily be compressed like pictures or music or movies will already be compressed.

So im guessing 2 to 1 compression is the best he can hope for, also keeping in mind the length of time necessary to compress and decompress this data, it may simply not be worth it.

    Personally, I wouldnt.

    Oh...an explanation you ask?
Well coke could put a little switch between the battery and the electronics in the can so that only turns on once you open it. So this magical can gets discovered, and they have to activate it before anything happens. I dont think you can hijack electronics with no power.

As for "it can only call us"...that could be easily setup.

The only legitimate concern would be some sort of fake coke cans. But then you could do that anytime, not just during a contest, and fill it with anthrax...
