    See also Article I, Section 10:

    No State shall, without the Consent of the Congress, lay any Imposts or Duties on Imports or Exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection Laws: and the net Produce of all Duties and Imposts, laid by any State on Imports or Exports, shall be for the Use of the Treasury of the United States; and all such Laws shall be subject to the Revision and Controul of the Congress.

    So Congress can allow such a tax, but right now the States' hands are (or should be) tied.

    I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Been around since about '98 or so. Waited about 6 months before I picked up an account (hence the mid-5s UID).

    Don't forget the Forbes links or Roland or Hugh Pickens.

    But yeah, the problem is that everything has been politicized, and the pure tech discussions have gone away. Damned shame.

    AMEX used to offer disposable numbers (Amex Private Payments), but for some reason, discontinued them several years ago,

    Agreed. Cars were advertised and sold as:

    1. Performance: X
    2. Mileage: Y MPG
    3. Emissions: Meets General US and California specific emissions.

    Right now, we have 1 and 2, but not 3. After the fix, it will have 3, but most likely neither 1 nor 2.

    As I said... I stand corrected. I voted for Gail Lightfoot (L) in 2012, at least in the primary. I think I abstained in the general election, since CA only gives you two choices in the general election, and I didn't like either.
