What planet do you live on? You may not find the swastika offensive, but many find it deeply offensive. Just like using the word nigger. Some things are more taboo than others. Where is the line drawn? That's up to the company to decide. But the whole slippery slope argument has always been a stupid one. Just because they ban swastika doesn't mean they are going to ban pedobear. Just because you are a self-righteous douche that thinks you know better than everyone else doesn't mean that the rest of society can't come to a consensus that certain things are offensive to the general populace.
How are they killing games? The big budget games sell really well because people love them. There is a huge indie scene where you can find games that try different concepts. Every now and then the smaller titles become popular and a new genre is born. There are tons of great games out there. I don't really get why people are agreeing with you. SC2 had a big budget and is the best game I have ever played. Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age are great games. So what if it is just improving on a tried and true genre...only making minor improvements....they are still fun and well done. The people complaining on here just don't remember how bad gaming was 15 years ago because they were children and were able to put up with a lot of crap.
Eh, whatever. You are an ass. There are plenty of game reviewing sites that aren't crap. There are places like gamefaqs with user reviews. Or heck, even Amazon can give you a good idea. You also know what companies make quality games that you have liked in the past. There are plenty of ways of figuring out which game is good without pirating it. You are just trying to justify being a dick. I fully support you being a dick, just don't try to pretend you don't have other ways of determining if a game is good or not. I mean, get out of the basement and make a friend and try the games that they buy at their place. It really isn't that hard to determine if a game is crap without pirating it.
Stupid. One action is legal, the other isn't. It would be like me saying that I want a candidate to win and another to lose. I could tell all my friends not to vote for B, which is great. Or I could break in to an election office and still all the ballots for the candidate I want to lose. If you pirate a game, you aren't paying for something that you should have. Go ahead and do that, just don't try to morally justify it because you are in the wrong.
The economy isn't bad for a new Nintendo console. The reason they aren't selling much is that everyone that wants a Wii, has one. Anyone who doesn't can get one used. The longer you wait to release a console, the cheaper it becomes and the more tech becomes available.
This is exactly it. Gamers are now adults. We have more money so we can purchase more games. But we have less time. So we start games with every intention but don't finish them because we get busy and something new comes out.
Ooh, you have brought out 1 instance where government is bad! It must ALL BE BAD! How blind I have been! Seriously, don't be stupid. I think not having lead paint in children's toys is a pretty damn good regulation. Or actually forcing a certain quality in our food standards. Or making sure pharmaceutical companies actually test their drugs before releasing it. But your cnn article trumps everything. You are brilliant.
Sounds great if everyone was like you, but they are not. They aren't aware that privacy is an issue. You may want to call them stupid or whatever but they aren't as tech savvy as people on here. Expecting everyone to "do the right thing" when they have no idea that they need to isn't realistic. Educating is key as well as encouraging our government representatives to add laws that protect consumer. You act as if all government rules and regulations do nothing to help fix problems. Look at China...see how well they are doing without government regulations for pretty much any product they create. So yeah, our government isn't perfect, but saying they can't do anything is just the stupid stuff that gets circle jerked around on here.
It isn't bullshit. You misunderstood. When the Republican strategy is to oppose anything Obama tries, then it will probably cause an issue if he tries to enforce new privacy laws.
You need laws protecting you from being ripped off by your data plans. You guys pay a ridiculous amount while we get unlimited data plans. We have laws that protect the consumer too, they are just different.
I suggest you try traveling the world a bit. We are all a bit more similar than the stereotypes would imply. You learn that some countries do things better and some do them worse. We have so much more in common than we do different. For example, there are plenty of douches in America who act just like you.
So in the future allow all carriers to license the same frequencies like in Europe or makes all phone be able to communicate on all the frequencies. Yeah, it wouldn't work with our current model, but who is to say the model can't change? Technology progresses. Duh.
I don't think you know Slashdot very well at all. It is primarily a Libertarian site. I don't think they would react any different if someone hacked in to some Democrat governor's site.
Yeah, violating someone's privacy is wrong. But does it deserve a year in prison? That is what people are objecting to...the overly harsh penalties assigned to crimes regarding computers. The less famous/rich you are the higher the chance you will serve a more severe sentence.
And seriously, try not to be such a partisan douche in the future.
Except that game 10 years from now probably won't run on your hardware/OS. At least with Steam, there is some chance they will try to keep it updated. If not, there is always the piracy/emulator option. What prevents them from disabling your game at will? Well, the fact that would piss off the consumers and you wouldn't buy from them is a fairly obvious one.
The way I see it is that there are a bunch of you overly paranoid people out there that like to get together here and complain about how good things used to be and how terrible they are now. While the rest of us are happily enjoying great games without issues, friend lists, unlimited downloads to any machine, etc. We don't view you as smarter...you are just the weird guys we avoid at parties because you are ranting and raving about your rights so much you can't have any fun.
I really wonder what kind of setups you guys run to have so many issues. Maybe everyone is trying to play games on wine on a system they built 8 years ago. I have never purchased a game that was unplayable on my PC. Just keep your drivers up to date and you won't have issues. It is pretty simple. At least for anyone who reads Slashdot it should be.
If it was a unique product that you really enjoyed, of course you would. Particularly when it is a minor inconvenience to fix. You are comparing apples to oranges. That's why most people who play the game love it despite the issues.
You may be a programmer, but I think you fail to understand the complexity of these games. The choice isn't between not buying games with bugs or buying games with bugs. This game would not exist if everyone applied your standards. It is a very advanced engine that has to work on a nearly infinite number of hardware combinations. Saying it is just a graphics issues is a joke. Try to create even a simple game engine. This isn't your programming 101 class.
That being said, I know how difficult it is for them to get it right on release. So I let everyone else buy it since they can't wait and iron out the bugs and I wait a year for the gold edition with the expansion so I don't have to worry about it.
Have you never moved away from your hometown? You have such a narrow world view it is staggering. We indeed have a special relationship with the UK. They are in the same boat as we are fighting against Islamic radicals. They are one of our closest allies. We may not comply with what they request but that would be due to the inability to enact something like that because of our Constitution. We certainly are close partners though and have a lot of cooperation. We are in this with them together.
What a stupid statement. They hate us because we station troops on their holy land. They hate us because we interfere with their government. They hate us because we fight made up wars that kill thousands of civilians.
You were probably joking, but I know some people actually still think they hate us because we are free. And it is just so simplistic and dumb. I'd probably not be irritated if you were modded funny instead of Interesting.
It dropped because nothing got done due to Republicans being unwilling to work and the right wing spin machine convincing dumb poeple like yourself that there was death panels in health care.
They aren't going to lock down the manufacturers. That's the opposite of the whole concept of Android.
It has nothing to do with Marketplace or the Appstore. It has to do with less diversity of hardware you have to support.

If you hate Sony, stop commenting in PS3 threads. You have nothing useful to contribute.

Only because he is president. They would react the same if Bush was hacked when he was president.

Please show me proof that once Steam goes dark that the "community" won't have a patch out in a week to fix the issue.

This message brought to you by the PR department of AdaFruit! It's awesome!
