* Do you have any idea how performance compares on the Mac between the GeForce 6800 Ultra and the ATI 9800 Pro/XT card?
GeForce 6800 Ultra represents the largest leap forward in graphics performance in our company's history. As expected, they are much faster than previous generation products from ATI. We will let the benchmarks speak for themselves.
Translated: We'll release some actual numbers when we sell more of these mini-space heaters.

Who'se AI programming could be considered good enough to simulate God? How would God come into play in, say, Doom3 or The Sims? Do you lose if you are sinful?
He announced that he had abandoned chess in 1996 and launched a new version, "Fischerandom,"... Fischer claimed it would bring the fun back into the game and rid it of cheats.
I think Valve should hire this guy to patch up Counter-Strike.
remember one the first things that Bush said after 9/11?
We will not allow these terrorists to change our way of life.
By "our" he meant the government. Government has always been trying to creep more and more into the lives of everyone, and 9/11 just gave them more "reason" to.
that means that Microsoft is not satisfying their customers, and Free Software can perform better than Microsoft even in the ease of use area!
When "Free Software" has a sizable amount of the desktop market then I think we can say that. Until then, how many years has it been "this year for desktop linux!"???
outside-of-China business the more China will have to adopt to it. It's basic market principles. Sure, the average Chinese citizen will have a harder time accessing it but it will filter down, eventually.
With a gang of zombies at his command, the creator of a superworm could mob a Web site or computer system, flooding it with bogus electronic transmissions until it drowned in the data torrent.
Tens of thousands of computers containing now-dormant Leaves worms await instructions from their master. Should they ever again awaken, a posse will be waiting.
With writing like this it sounds like someone trying to scare up funds to keep this department up and running.
No word yet if it collects and forwards personal data.
Is this just more mindless Microsoft bashing on Slashdot? It's one thing to post a notification of actual, privacy damaging spyware, but if it's simply annoying and you don't know if it spies on you or not then DON'T INSTALL IT!. Sheesh...
Developed by Stallman, the so-called general public licence attached to Linux forces anyone who modifies the system to make the modification freely available to others.
Only if you REDISTRIBUTE the binaries as well! This makes it sound like any in-house change must be published.
The recording industry asked Verizon last summer to reveal the name of a customer believed to have downloaded more than 600 songs in one day, but Verizon refused
(Emph mine.) So just based on the fact that the customer might have downloaded [any number] of songs, they have convinced the federal government to step in and force Verizon to release information to a group of record companies? This is revolting.
Anyways, I think it would be neat to have a PDA where the little box part was just the computer (well, the screen part could also be used), and the visual interface used those 3-D glasses. Dragging the pointer around would show a mouse on the glasses. Make the interface bluetooth or 802.11 and that would be extra cool!
If you spend a few extra split seconds looking in the mirror at another car's "expression" then you are spending less time looking ahead of you.
Federal officials said the theft of approximately 8.2 gigabytes of data resulted in losses of more than $7 million.
Where exactly is $7 million coming from? Is there data worth about a million a gig?
Sony artists include Aerosmith, George Michael and Barbra Streisand, while the BMG stable has Avril Lavigne and Elvis Presley.
Elvis unavailable for comment regarding the merger.
Also, I liked this:

Imagine a worm that infects machines that, instead of being an open email spam relay, surfs ad-heavy sites and simulates webclicks.
Enlarge your penis... OR DIE!!

Red pill or blue pill?
Firefox [mozilla.org]. The Browser reloaded.
Noooo! The sequel sucked! :P

encode to OGG/MP3. No problem.
just this article reeks of doom-and-gloom "we need more funding!" crap directed at technophobic beaurocrats. It's just a puff piece.

Stupid plugins exist for many browsers, yet the story submitter is just bitching about some random IE plugin for the sake of bashing IE.

Those penguins sure do chew up the bandwidth!
"from the imminent-death-predictions-getting-boring dept"
Then why post it?
Also, if it's open source, why it is "long term"? They said "special license" but they didn't post the license itself.

So if CVS is in CVS, maybe somebody rooted CVS's CVS to apply a patch to backdoor CVS, even with new CVS patches to CVS? ;)
