It's Ctrl-L, at least get your keybindings right before complaining. I think that the Gnome developers would be more likely to respond to thought out feature requests in bugzilla than uninformed rants on slashdot.
Someone already forked Gnome, and it does not look like it's going anywhere. Also emember that part of the X.Org reaction was the license change of XFree86.

You are of course free to change Gnome to fit yourself... I find browser-mode-like file managers unusable, before spatial Nautilus I was using Midnight Commander and the shell (now Nautilus and shell). Thank you Gnome developers, you made my computing better!
But spatial Nautilus is simple. One window per folder, just a menu and a parent folders button.

Until recently, the Gnome file open dialog box was a nightmare. It still has some problems, though. Many of its features are hidden in shortcut keys that one would only know existed if one scoured the Gnome manuals.
Many? As far as I know it's only the location dialog . I can't think of a good way to show it without clutering the dialog. At least it does not have the horizontal-scrolling-through-files "feature"...
What do I care if it's the fault of the manufacturer or Microsoft (I think they both are at fault). At the end of the day getting Windows to work with the hardware can be a nightmare and you may as well pick GNU/Linux supported devices.
Kindly never say anything about anything ever again. Thanks.
Are you talking to yourself? Care to explain how water, after fulfilling it's function at keeping you alive and clean, is more important then an internet connection (anykind) for the pursuit of happiness?

i'm sorry, but the riaa replaced my shift keys with sharp needles1
It's certainly isn't an explorer xlone either. What I'm saying that both spatial and dual pane are far better for me.
I'm sure LGPL has the same provisions, nevermind that not all of Gnome is LGPLed. Your post has more crap than Gnome (and it's tiny).

I lost my CD.
Give us Emily Short instead of Emily Dickinson!

I find the menu useless for launching programs -- I just use a shorcut key to get to the Run... dialog and launch from there.
Are you saying that KDE is unstable and 8 versions behind?
We don't crucify people here, we slash and dot them.
What about GCJ/Gnome?
You measure entertainment in kilobytes?!
Pair Go is good fun for 4 players. The only problem I have with Go is the name, makes searching next to impossible.
But that is not a design problem unlike letting USB devices screw up the OS...
Flamebait? Dear mod, parent was talking to himself and I doubt he ment to flamebait himself...

Pair Go is great fun for 4 players without repainting any stones.
Less important to life, about as much as liberty and much more important then water for the pursuit of happiness.
