In a surprising move Apple users around the world have started replacing the native Mac OS X that came with their hardware with pirated versions of Windows XP. Aparently they were inpired by a comment of a certain 'mrchaotica' on the popular technology newspage slashdot.org. In unrelated news Apple support has been flooded with angry phone calls.
As we can see above, the difference between the two CPUs seems exaggerated and difficult to trust.
Maybe it's because Intel still makes processors for MHz and not performance? Maybe because unlike some comercial vendors the POV-Ray Team doesn't feel the need to make processor specific optimizations and leave that to job to the compiler (where it belongs)?
I would. A place where "free to share" software, music, artwork and documents could be found. Now that really would be a kick in the ass for copyright cartels.
Who would? The freeware comunity would be about the only ones for whom nothing would change. The Free Software comunity would adjust quickly. Most of pay per copy companies would go under.
meaning anybody could take Linux and produce a proprietary version
That would be a free-as-in-beer version. So anybody who cares about security, transparency, support, etc. would use the version you can get the source for.
I asked for one in my /. sig.

That can't be serious...
And why do you write documentation in a general purpouse WYSIWYG word processor to begin with?

There is no "IP Law". And I really hope it stays that way.
Oh, and Microsoft doesn't take anything in this scenario. There is no Microsoft in a world without copyright.
Without copyright laws, the GPL would not be needed. There is a reason they call it copyleft.
Too many men, also, are told to not stand out, not be different, accept what the lead male says, etc.
