If you want to do something about it, the ACLU allows you to send free snail mail, e-mail, or faxes to your representatives, just by filling in your zip code and a little contact info (I usually get canned letters back from my reps when I fax them.) Here's the link(the zip code field is at the bottom). If you're interested, this is a very fast, and simple way to get through to your representatives. Of course, I have no idea if it has any real effect, but anything is better than nothing..
About the only big game that never hit the Macintosh in recent years was Half-Life. I built a PC just to try that baby out, and I wasn't disappointed.
What about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? It's easily one of 2003's best games, and many would say THE best game of 2003. I have a 15" Powerbook and that is the ONLY game I wish they would release.
Apple has also had trouble in the past with iBook power adapters. Apparently when some people plug in their iBooks, sparks start flying from the port. When confronted, Apple denied the problem existed, and even removed posts on the support forums related to it.
This is just avoiding what many people see as the obvious conclusion: the space shuttle in its current incarnation needs to be replaced. It was designed before I was born.
Unfortunately it looks like NASA is moving in the wrong direction, cutting the funding from their shuttle replacement project. Of course, I'm all for making the existing shuttles safer, and what they're doing now is a good idea.
Ah, it's refreshing to see some sanity in the courts, even if it is on another continent. If the courts blame kazaa for what its users do, it would logically follow that we'd have to blame gun manufacturers for the actions of bank robbers, blame car manufacturers for the crimes of people involved in hit-and-run accidents, and blame alcohol manufacturers for the stupid things drunk people do.
They have about 20 or more poems up on the Register website, so for those of you who are too lazy to wade through to the two winners:

By focusing mainly on medical developments and boiling everything down to 30 seconds, science is often sensationalized and distorted, said Sandra Blakeslee, a science writer for The New York Times.
Of course we don't have any problems like that on Slashdot, where everything is reported accurately and with little fanfare...
Now people with AOL can just use their screen name to buy songs on iTMS, and it'll be billed to their AOL account.

I live about a block from the Hynes Conevention Center, and there are about 4 bars right on the other side of the street from the place. But I'm sure that had nothing to do with the decision... nothing at all... ; )
In fact, unless reversible computing is achieved, computer chips are expected to reach their maximum performance capabilities within the next three decades, effectively halting the rapid advances in speed that have driven the information technology revolution, Frank said. "Reversible computing is absolutely the only possible way to beat this limit," he said.
Uh, does anyone else thinks that's incredibly short sighted? Especially considering other technologies on the horizon (quantum computing, bilogical computing, networking technologies, etc). They all have their problems, but so does reversible computing. Who does he think he's fooling?
"What more do you need? Faster systems, cheaper total cost, and slick looking cases."
What more do I need? How about an exceptionally well-designed, FreeBSD-based operating system?
Oh yeah, it has that, too.
Amazon.com has one selling for $1599. 'Twas the first one I ran across.
According to some, to get the quality of 35mm analog film you'll need at least 10 megapixels on your digital camera.
You can buy such a camera, but be prepared to spend over 1,000 USD. I'm not so sure film is going to be disappearing any time soon.

It was finished a while ago. Currently it holds the number three spot in the world.

I don't know, judging from the first images sent back there might still be a problem....

Gee, thanks for linking to Yahoo! We here atSlashdot probably would have had to use Google or something to find it if you hadn't given us the URL!

Not exactly on topic, but speaking of combining coffee with unrelated items, you gotta love caffeinated soap!
Because seriously, some of the geeks I know need more showers, instead of more food...

Also the fact that Apple has come right out and said don't expect a G5 Powerbook for about a year.
