In the case of NetZero, the connection is so slow that running Kazaa isn't worth the effort. Seriously, in the few months we used NetZero, I never downloaded music because it just took too darn long.
This reminds me of the "Windows ME Introduction Video" that showed several extremely happy people using "digital media" technology, "recovering from problems easily" (kid with hammer attacks keyboard), and experiencing the power of "home networking." I really love the part where Dad shoots a video of the wife and kid and sends it spinning around an animated globe to Grandma's computer. And despite all the marketing hype, all the non-geeks I know who have used WinME universally agree that it sucks.
Besides, most of the people I know who are clueless about computers hate computers, and nothing will ever change that. Not marketing, and not attempts at making software easier to use. And such people wouldn't even notice the latest toy from HP on their favorite TV show.
If they're like my university, they link your DHCP registration and your MAC address to your email username or student ID and limit how many you can register. We are allowed 2, unless you complain, which is why they let me have 5. (I now have a FreeBSD box set up as a NAT gateway, so it isn't really relevant anymore.)
What would interest me would be Slashdot's reaction if Bush had done this first. The overwhelmingly liberal crowd here has nothing but praise for Dean, but I bet if Bush's campaign had done something similar first, either it would be completely ignored or everyone would be desperately trying to find fault with it.
Is this stuff combustible? Whenever I see Flash, I always feel like setting something on fire. This could be my chance to let out years worth of repressed rage.
The internet is quick, you can learn about anything at the click of a button, you dont have to spend hours at the library looking through books
Which is good, since we all know you can get sued into bankruptcy for having a library. It's nice to know you're safe from evil lawyers while you're on the Internet.
see this link from a recent Slashdot article.
My Internet's down...
I've never actually seen MS Bob. Anyone know where I could find a copy?
Whats next? A front page story post with the goatse guy?
I've been submitting those, but for some reason, they keep getting rejected.

You created an account just for that post? That's very sad.

"...the nine hard drives bound together with a superfast connection speed..."
Man, I wish I had a RAID setup like that!
I've had trouble getting NVidia's driver to install on Slackware versions 8.0 and 8.1. Has anyone gotten this to work with a more recent version?
Great. Just great. My stupid university blocks BitTorrent.
Definition here.

$echo Mac OS X | grep e

Sorry, no 'e' in there.
I built my Linux computer myself, but it currently has an HP keyboard. Will HP indemnify me? Or does ALL the hardware have to be from them?
What if someone decided to load the drive full of DRM music that people could just click-n-buy?
Didn't someone do this already? Gateway maybe? Anyone remember?
"And what's with all this Goatse stuff? What is that, anyway?"

And if that happened, we could all come here to Slashdot and complain about it. Oh, wait...
Humph. Joke all you want, but I, for one, welcome our...
NO! DON'T SHOOT!

Or for those who like to think in code:
#include "company.h"
Company * cPtr = new Company; // dynamic operating company
Company Canopy; // static operating company
Yeah, me too. Could be worse, though... I'm sure glad I also took the RIAA's amnesty offer.
