Do you really feel it is necessary to insult the intelligence of someone who is just doing his job? Why is this? Do you feel you are a better person than someone who works at McDonalds? If yes, why?

When I worked a summer job at Blockbuster, every now and then I'd get a smartass like you who thinks they're so clever. Guess what, I could give two shits about your change, and about the job. I just grabbed what the computer told me to grab from the drawer and give it to you.

I could have given two shits (can you add that?) about whether or not I gave you two quarters or 5 dimes. In fact, if I thought you were being an asshole, I'd probably give you a small change as I could, and claim that I was out of some coins and bills on my drawer.

Actually, it feels like a PR plant. You know, those things that seem too scripted to be real? Given that a large portion of Apple's success in creating its current image came from (aside from cool ads) extensive PR.

Remember, Apple has managed to take a small user-base, and turn them into a bunch of fanatics, right on par with Harley fanatics, only probably more feeble.

But in real life, we have bank accounts that can transfer the money so you don't have to do it physically, thus enabling quasi-realtime trading of currency.

Then perhaps that is not a good position for her. When you are at that level, you need to be prepared for contact with the media. In fact, many PR firms train these executives as to how to answer to media questions. If you cannot handle speaking on behalf of the company, you should not have such a high position with them, because with that position comes the responsibility to be part of their public face.

So while its understandable that she might not know the technical aspects of this, I don't see any excuse why she didn't have a watered down metaphor for it that would let people easily see what the technical things meant. There is no excuse for just being able to spew marketing lingo. Marketing lingo may be important to marketing, but it doesn't mean thats ALL you should know, especially if you're a VP.

And just so you know, I work in advertising/marketing, and am disgusted by this interview. The reason Slashdot has such a negative view of marketing people is because of people like this executive, who have no real intelligence to back up their words.
