It'd be interesting to know how the unofficial support channels stack up against the real thing. I'd bet that neighborhood support would put everyone to shame
From TFA:
OUTSIDE SUPPORT. It's worth noting that the highest-ranked vendors both for reliability and tech support, bar none, are the do-it-yourselfers and the "white box" companies no-names sold by local integrators.
Copyright protections are not a lopsided us-versus-them situation. There's no line in the sand between content producers (bad) and consumers (good). If you create something, whether you're a media corporation or an individual, copyright works in your favor.
Rembember, even the GNU Copyleft depends on the existence of copyright in order to work.
And when was the last time the FBI kicked someone's door in and stole all their computer equipment for violating the GPL?
Last I checked they won't help anyone who hasn't suffered a financial loss of at least $5000. And that's just to get them to give you the time of day.
When the FBI starts defending the copy rights of someone other than media conglomerates I'll buy the argument that they're working in our interests.
Uh, I think his point is that it is unlikely that these "athles" (as you called them) ingested drugs without them knowing about it. [snip] These guys are all taking some sort of performance enhancing substance - admit it.
Yeah - I'll admit it. I'm pretty sure they all drink water, and that is one of the best performance enhancers around. You sure do perform a lot better with it than without it.
Don't even get me started on carbohydrates... these "athletes"... bleh.
You have to be able to make those copies in order to use the product in its intended way. It is implied from the product's packaging and description that you're able to do that. If you couldn't do that with the rights you obtained at the time of purchase then that would be fraud.
Having to "purchase" such rights separately after the purchase of the actual copy would be like going to a car dealership, buying a car, and after you paid for it they told you that the engine is sold separately and it would cost you a few thousand more.
he already explained why he is building it you should go re-read a few times to compensate for your reading comprehension skill you fucking fuck wit and try to use punctuation and complete sentences instead of runons because your post reads like it was written by someone with an IQ of 60 and thats really annoying ok thanks bye
I'm not trying to diss anyone who has actually attended such a school, i'm just pissed-off at the 'technical education industry' that DeVry exemplifies. I've probably interviewed about 20 or so DeVry candidates for various technical positions and they've all been horrible. I guess truck-stops and loading docks need people to hit CNTL-ALT-DEL these days too.
Not to mention the way these places keep crapflooding the industry by advertising on radio and TV that computer people are in demand and highly paid: Come to DeVry and within a year you'll begin your new career as a highly paid Information Technology Specialist! Anyone will notice a huge difference going from a $100 walmart bike to an $800 bike (mainly reduced weight with better sturdiness)... but going from an $800 bike to a $2600 bike probably wouldn't benefit you much unless you're a professional or something...
Why don't you guys just not buy their coffee? I mean its not like Starbucks employees storm the mom & pop places and force everyone into the starbuck's at gunpoint. People stand voluntarily in line at the place waiting to give starbuck's their money. Starbucks doesn't put the mom and shop places out of buisness - the customers did. They stopped spending their money at the mom & pop place and decided to give it to starbuck's instead by their own free will.
I hate corporate scumbags as much as the next guy. But even more, I hate the sheep-people who voluntarily decide to spend their money at the corporate chain and then blame the corporates for the results of their own (the sheep-people's) decisions...
'think that they can legally profit by inducing children to steal. Some think they can legally lure children into breaking the law with false promises of "free music."
The hallmark of every corrupt, greedy, scumbag politician: somehow involve the word 'children' whenever describing something you're* against.
Late in the 1970s, things started getting interesting. The magic point was called "3M", which stood for "1 MIP, 1 Megabyte, 1 million pixels", and the price on that was JUST BARELY within reach of an individual.
Displays that can do 1 million pixels in the late 70's? Are you sure about that? That would be something on the order of a 1000x1000 pixel display.
Heloooo.... You use USB, not PS2, and you get either two dual head video cards or get several low end matrox cards. I have 3 video cards (2 matrox, one NVidia) in a computer of mine right now. No cooling problems at all. And practically any PC has room for all this unless you're talking about a microATX system.
They aren't wrong.

Again, what does this have to do with using road and rail?

Yes you do. You own a copy of a copyrighted work. That copy is yours as much as your car or your computer or your shoes.
The idea that you "license" something instead of own it when you buy it is complete bullshit.
Doesn't look too creepy to me. Just a popup that maximizes itself and contains a black bar on the left, the rest plain white, and that's about it.

If you think corporate America takes accountability for the software it writes, I suggest you read your EULA sometime.
And after the next 9/11 happens: "It's the reality. Learn to deal with it."
The average IT salary during the dotbomb boom was quite a bit more than "a living wage" that you'd get from a customer service job.
I do wonder if this is genuine or not. If so, whoever you are, we need more than an AC post signed "JD in NYC"...

And speaking of steam, have they come up with a reasonable way to play HL/CS games at offline lan parties yet? We're still playing 1.1.1.0/CS 1.5.

*: or those who paid your bribes, rather.
So how many hours and how much gas did you spend driving around bickering with them for $15?
Is there some DRM or something on Mac hardware that prevents people from illegally copying OSX on the mac platform?

Macrovision never stopped anybody from making a decent copy. I suggest you
search for "video stabilizer" on ebay.
It is only strange if believe the republicans' redefinition of patriotism to mean 'support for the Bush administration'.
