But the administrators have no jurisdiction over what goes on outside of school.

Not true. At least in my case, back when i was in hs and in varsity sports, we (student athletes) had to agree and sign a sort of honor form, stating that we will not break the law, drink, smoke or do any other thing illegal or unhealthy. If you were caught, it was either you were benched or let go from the team (depending on how valuable you were of course). This is just a diff medium in that instead of getting caught firsthand by a coach/teacher smoking in the bathroom or a party getting busted up and parents called, all the incriminating photos are electronic and on the web.

Case in point, its really better that they got caught now and hopefully learn rather then when they are college grads looking for work, and the potential employer finds a nice little picture of a said interviewee pole dancing while smoking a joint clubbing baby seals.

As much as I wish that wasn't true I'm afraid it is. I'm dating an immunologist right now, and even she has told me that the pharmaceutical companies aren't interested in cures, only lifestyle drugs such as giving an 80 year old a woody, or helping people loose weight. Basically there's no profit in cures, only the drugs you have to keep taking.

Actually, they are pushing AOL for broadband. But the thing is, why pay an aditional $14.95 when you already have to pay about $30 a month just for the cable modem service.

They were great in the mid to late 90's when the only way to get on-line was through a modem. Hell even i used them up until about 3 years ago when cable became avaliable in my area. But the reality is that the company is on its way out, its just a matter of when.

But some times i really just think, whats the point? I realize that the trend is to have more efficient, more user friendly PC's, O.S's, and this is the way it will continue. Pretty soon, i honestly do feel that IT will not even be needed in the corperate world due to automation. But like you posted, this is the way with every job/field, except probably research.

The way i see it, like you said, there simply wont be any jobs for humans to do anymore, except maintain the automation. Or maybe i just have a poor outlook on the future.
