Not saying they should make consoles, but imagine! your P4 4.01ghz playing HalfLife 3, with an SGI video card...mmmmm!

true, but the films are dynamic productions, people have just finished filming scenes requiring people with a nordic look, weta's pumping fx like some MASSIVEly amped beowulf supercluster, and the costume of Legolas and Gimli were strangley absent at the rings exhibition...

so yeah we know what it will look like...like something your grandkids look up on google when they type in: who's won the most oscars ever :)

  13. you can't claim proprietary rights to a verb. on Verbing Weirds Google · · Score: 1

But you CAN claim proprietary rights to a noun such as your name, in this case: google. Still, its a bit silly to try and turn back the clock, using 'google' as a verb is surely free marketing for an already highly successful business. Oh to have MY companies name used as verb!!

  15. Why Linux is the childrens pick. on Linux in High School Labs · · Score: 1

because children are naturally anti-authority. Microsoft is like Cocacola company, Mcdonalds and every other mega corp, and its values are diametrically opposed to the new (next) generation. Witness the global protests against war last week and you have a glimpse of the world in ten years. Strong anti capitalistic sentiments are being expressed worldwide, and while Microsoft make inroads into government contracts they are losing out on the battle for hearts and minds of the people. The front lines are the schools, and if schools no longer have Microsoft O/S then children won't be fooled into thinking MCSE is a viable education.

  17. Merchandise??? on A Music Industry Case Study · · Score: 1

Hmm. I dont think Lars Ulrich, drummer of Metallica could afford his luxury mansion on that income, which makes me think: marketing. Big bands, and little famous underground bands rely a LOT on marketing their expensive knick-knacks to fans for the bread and butter income. T-shirt sales are the reason bands can afford to tour.

  18. Space Exploration...is dangerous! on More on Columbia · · Score: 3, Insightful
All the astronauts knew what they did could cost them their lives. They knew that and trusted the NASA system to do everything possible to keep them safe...but ultimately their fate is in God's hands.

Whether foam caused the catastrophe or something else did, no power on earth was able to save these astronauts once they left the ground. They could not have dropped by the space station and waited for rescue, no docking bay was attached to the shuttle. I cannot see how obfuscation of the facts will help NASA, they want to know what happened so that it doesnt happen again. By downplaying the significance of the foam, which seems the obvious cause to us armchair space directors, they are allowing for all options to be given equal weight in the search for the truth.

  19. Sony Clie SJ33 on Uni Students Slammed For Music Swapping · · Score: 1
From the review of the sj33 The SJ33 uses standard memory sticks although the device doesn't come with one. With the focus on music playback, Sony might want to consider bundling offers because users are definitely going to need one.

wrong. When no one has any mp3's to save, there is no need for huge amounts of memory. Music playback will be limited to Sony's DRM, dog-robot music. All your mp3 are belong to us.
