I remember in the original sim city you could call distasters onto your town to, supposedly, see how well your emergency response systems fared. There were earthquakes, tornados, floods, power outages and even Godzilla that would emerge from the sea and smash buildings. I don't really know what it was for, as calling a disaster onto your town never made alot of sense to me.
Is this a fortelling of things to come? Did the Oracle prophetize these events? Is it fate that the next two versions of windows are doomed to be over hyped and inferior to the original in nearly every way shape and form? It's not fate, it's statistics. You just described every version of windows I have come into contact with.
If Intel made something completely different than AMD and completely broke compatibility you would all be screaming about that. Now they are acknowledging that AMD beat them to the market and defined the standard, and when they decide to follow it, they are accused of not innovating and following in their footsteps.

I don't think you quite understand the system. Sending messages to individual spammers would not help, because there would still be a large volume of mail from one address sent to many, just not in one email. Also, the person who said that having his email headers stored would violated his privacy should realize that there could easily be some sort of one-way hashing system that would obscure the headers to make comparisons possible but not address extraction.
Will this be released as one package, with an unannounced linux installer on the third CD, or will it be a full-blown retail package for windows, linux and (possibly) mac?
Not quite. Nobody 'rights' any viruses for Linux because they'd have to get people to run it as root. If more people used it, there might be more viruses, but they wouldn't spread nearly as rapidly as windows viruses. Also the *legal* open-source nature of the Linux code lends itself to peer review and fixing bugs and exploits, whereas with Windows only MS can fix bugs, and if you try to point one out you get ignored and/or sued.
I don't know about apt-get, but emerge always seems to saturate my connection. Althought that doesn't go over too well with the four other people on the network here.:-)
The polygraph has become such a joke that they needed something new to 'detect' lies. This time you don't have any control over it as the cop (or the talk show host) is the one who can say if you are lieing or not. I just hope they don't manage to prove that this actually works
actually firebird will not let you execute an EXE directly, it will force you to Save As first, and then if you click Run it will warn you of the dangers of running EXE's
How can you say that? Vice City is massive compared to Liberty City (Original). You can get lost for long periods of time in Vice City. The only way to truly appreciate the size of the map is to fly over it in a helicoptor, which Vice City allows to to do, along with just about anything else you could want to do.
This memo allegedly confirms the move to Linux? So that means we're sure it may have happened, and it may have happened for sure. I don't think you can have 'confirms' in a topic ending with a question mark.

This must be a very interesting CS class...

because of the way google parses search strings both of those searches would yield exactly the same results
Online, he goes by the name Second Part to Hell
That's not a valid nickname on DALNet

These aren't the Jews you're looking for. *waves hand*
In soviet russia, you are charged insane prices for a Linux license and Windows is open source
Also, you can easily steal the patches without legal issues because nobody is legally allowed to have the source
*removes tinfoil hat*
you could just hit the verizon guy over the head with it Can you hear anything now? Good!

Anyone who's still got a C64 should really consider upgrading...

only on slashdot would a comment 2 posts into the comments section restating a single factoid from the article be moderated informative
damnit
I was just about to go and read the books and then they announce the movie and rob me of the unfounded feeling of eliteness I'd have afterwards

no good movies made from good novels??? Lord of the Rings *trilogy*, Fight Club, Red Dragon are a few of my favorites
but if it can't swim when you get a yard with a pool, do you still want it?

I've used photoshop for a while and had no trouble picking up the earlier version of gimp quite quickly. Although some tools were sort of hidden.
Out of all those confusing model numbers, the real question is this: which one will let me play the most up to date games during physics and math?
