Blockbuster has ONLY a pay on demand ($1.99 / movie). Blockbuster doesn't have a flat rate subscription for streaming.
I have the streaming plus 2 DVD options. I'm going to drop the DVD option, go with streaming only (until I exhaust their anime section), and just pick up $1 videos a few times per month at Red/Blue boxes.
When something [nuclear in this case] can poison or damage large portions of the Earth and make it uninhabitable then that something is not worth the risk. For what, some electricity? Not to mention the toxic waste issues. Humans can do better & humans should pursue more effective, safer, and sustainable methods of generating power.
This morning a group of us watched Thor & one member of our group who had seen the movie in 3D IMAX said our 2D version was horrible and dark, probably by 33%. We thought this team member was nuts & now this article pops up. Interesting.
Our group has dual monitors & productivity is higher. Everyone agrees that the extra desktop space saves real-time when managing multiple windows (which is what we do 8 hours a day).
Right now I am glad that I don't use PS3, PSN, or SOE products or services as I am a computer gamer & wasn't interested in SOE games. I don't use Sony hardware in my PC since the Sony rootkit issue.
I did have some respect for the Sony brand when it came to electronics and non-PC hardware but after this fiasco I will take my money elsewhere.
As I register my products I don't want a company with lax security & little respect for my information to handle my any of my data.
The only way for Sony to make a little face is to terminate all employees (individual contributor & management) who had a part in securing systems with user data. That would mean all the way up the management chain if high level execs had a part, even a small part.
This is old news. I got my tax payer funded router (thanks) about 3 months ago. The online reports are very neat and shows me that I'm glad my life doesn't depend on my ISP.
Date / Failure Rate in % (the online graphs are much better).

I'd like to run the reports monthly versus weekly and daily though, I'll write SamKnows and ask about that.
I'm looking forward to the actual community impact of ultra high speed when most areas in USA don't have the same level of service. The regional impacts to Kansas City metro area governments (will they offer competing services?), wireline telcos (AT&T), cable operators (Time Warner, Comcast, SureWest), and other business sectors. The impact to education will be interesting to analyze. If Kansas City KS starts sucking up all the new start ups and attracting a lot more business the surrounding areas will respond quicker to competitive products and services.
I've had a roughly similar idea for a game that keeps resurfacing last 15 years. With cloud computing catching & technology advances I might actually learn programming to build my game.
Minecraft is the closest game I know of that is about building blocks and huge worlds where players move around and change things. That is the foundation for my game & things differ much from there.
I bought four copies of Alpha & my in-laws bought 3 copies in Alpha & host a server for us.
It's fun now & we are all excited about future updates. The money was well spent.
Being civilized has nothing to do with universal healthcare.
Before Obamacare you could get medical assistance with having a baby or if your life is endangered regardless if you are a citizen or not.
My in-laws, children, and gaming friends are multiplayer nuts, especially co-op play. So a good game that comes along with co-op or multiplayer versus gets about 10 to 20 sales depending on whether it's RTS/FPS (family not so much into FPS).
Some games the "group" have passed up include King's Bounty, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect, The Witcher, and others. The "group" still plays Supreme Commander, Age of Empires III, and Titan Quest. All of which are co-op and versus multiplayer.
I'm sure the 1% elite in modern day Egypt & Libya or even France around 1789 thought like you.
Make the process of requirements & biding 100% open & accessible to public scrutiny for a defined time period.
Hold any party accountable (public or private) for not delivering agreed upon results.
End of story
Any reason why AMD could not design an open & free specification with as much industry participation as possible? That would seem like a good move.
I echo this comment.
What about cooking lessons?
"So long as people keep paying it, they'll keep charging it."
Bingo! Stop buying over priced stuff & the price will come down.
On 8/8/11 the new FCC rules on cable cards went into effect.
See http://www.fcc.gov/guides/cablecard-know-your-rights for more information
Open cable cards will hopefully set us free. If not, sic the bureaucrats on your cable company.
Ask for trial by jury. The jury is there to protect people from unjust laws. It's Massachusetts though so she may not be able to get a qualified jury.
You are all suspected terrorists. Where is that phone number for the local FBI office...

Dumb ones are caught...

I prefer 3D games so Terraria is not even an option.
Long live Battlefield franchise! I stopped buying CoD games when they released at $59.99 versus $49.99.

Comparing a desktop OS cost over time (XP) to a server OS over time (RHEL6) sounds like what Microsoft would do in a marketing add.
Sort of like comparing you to someone who knows how to communicate useful information.

Goes to show that a lot of people like having a huge sandbox and tools to play with it & willing to pay for it.

Maybe the botnet masters are learning to cooperate & use their tools more effectively against larger more distributed targets.
