    I rather liked the first Bush's intervention: Large coalition, kicked them out of the country they invaded, stopped at the border.

  2. The odds of Samsung--a Korean company being punished by China for daring to attempt to protect themselves from North Korea--winning against a Chinese company in China are roughly equal to me being declared the new Chinese Emperor.

  3. You could setup a system to automatically close the garage door after X minutes if it doesn't detect movement. Say 20.

  4. You may do this. And I , as a customer, ( keep in mind, I don't know the specifics of the situation just from this story) would avoid such companies like the plague.
    How a company handles bad reviews and support is important to me. Everyone's nice when the customer gets their issue resolved and thanks the vendor profusely.

    Japan didn't have laws excluding any foreign company from owning more than 50 of a business, so I didn't care at the time. Neither did England.

    so how does SWISH make money? If it's a bank, they will eventually charge a fee. Nobody runs infrastructure for free.

    And when cashless is all you can use, do you believe that the financial establishment and/or government will refrain from adding fees and taxes to those transactions? Why wouldn't they?

    ATMs, when first introduced, were free. Now they often charge fees. Do you really think once a cashless society is reached that fees will not be applied to everything?

    Holy cow this!
    As a kid, I was taught we're all in this together, and didn't give a damn about anyone's' race: that was for old people. Mid seventies. Multiple races all up and down the street in California.
    Presently, I actually find myself pondering race more, because everyone has tribalized. The X- Americans blame the Y- Americans, who blame the Z- Americans for all their problems.
    There was an article recently on rising suicide rates among non college educated white males. No Kidding. They've been told for twenty years that they're responsible for everything that's bad in the world.

    The only real argument I can see for new over used is battery life. Sometimes used items have a worn out battery.

    At my old job, we had a support contract from IBM for some servers that we were using for vitual hosts.
    Occasionally we needed to call for support help, usually odd hours in emergencies.
    The staff who were the MOST helpful, invariably, turned out to be people sitting in their homes doing remote support.
    After getting the same person on occasion, I learned sh ran all her support from a home office in Oregon with calls forwarded.
    Fantastic work, she'd occasionally say something like "get out of here" and mention it was her cat bothering her.

    You cannot be talking about US sleeper trains.
    Here's Amtraks current price, random day trip in April, San Francisco to Chicago. 3 day trip.
    200-450 or so, coach seat
    1220, sleeper.
    that's roughly triple the seat only fare.
