  1. Not much new, apparently on Micro-Pump is Cool Idea for Future Computer Chips · · Score: 2, Informative

Although not many details are given, it seems to me this people just adapted an existing analytical technology called Capillary Electrophoresis. The piezo pump is a clever addition to the system to improve the micro-liter per second flows typically obtained in CE technology.

I wonder where and how they want to hang the liquid reservoir with the cooling solution. The processor may have to come then with an attached infusion bag like those you get at hospitals.

There is an interesting application called HitmanPro that uses most of the anti-spyware software available in the internet and uses them all to automatically find all the shit hidden. The website is in Dutch but the software is in German and English as well.

Please, mirror the site asap and make available extra copies of the program.

Ergo egyptians did not build the pyramides. Martians did the good job, but they used all the resources available on Mars leaving the planet as we know it today.

Now I only have to put down my conlusions nicely written so it can be published in Science or something.

Excuse me Sir. I think you are mistaking here.

It's a Spanish book what you are referring to. The mission was conceived by spaniards, and the main contractor is Spanish. They have chosen to use the Spanish spelling: Don Quijote.

Being spanish, I feel extra proud of the media attention is getting this case study. Hopefully, the spanish politicians will now consider to promote more spanish science.

Although the author has said this should be taken as a definitive treatment, it opens the doors to further research and clinical trials. Don't expect a full treatment procedure before two years, but this was a pretty good start.

The original article published by Dr. Brú in 1998 is freely available from the journal of Biophysics. For those of who enjoy maths.

AFIK, hydrogen sulfide would also inhibit the cytochrome C of all aerobic bacteria in the body. Hence, the infection risk may be decreased during the hibernation because these bacteria would be "hibernating" too.

About the anaerobic bacteria found within our body, I'm not sure. Perhaps a combined effect with low temperature could also prevent these anaerobic bacteria of growing.

Low temperature (not freezing) and a mixture of gases may be the way to go about long-term hibernation.

The Antartica stay-over missions are also the test bed for some new technologies that will be used in furure space exploration.

One of my tasks at ESA is to help scientists to understand human physiology in extreme conditions, and Antartica offers exceptional conditions that simulate what a trip to Mars could be: isolation, confinement, limited food and energy, name it.

Im very interested to know how is life at Concordia (Dome C) Station, because my test equipment will be used there in few years. Is it possible for you people at Dome C to blog or something? It would be very useful for me to know how it is an average working day in Antartica?
