Actually, you don't HAVE to pay people. I'm sure they could find supporters for every candidate who would be willing to participate for free. As long as you had someone for each candidate there, so they can all verify each other's work, I don't see where there would be a problem. Of course, I wouldn't expect the government to try to come up with ways to save money, so I guess we will have to pay people.

I mean, seriously, I don't see what this even has to do with html.

I hate long cut scenes that you can't skip. If you wanna put them in your game, fine. If you wanna force me to watch them, thats usually ok too, as long as they are fairly short.

It completely sucks though, when you pop in a new game and want to jump right into the action, but it makes you watch a freaking 15 minute movie before the game starts. And then as soon as it starts, you might be unfortunate enough to lose or have to stop playing before you reach a save point, and then you have to watch the crap ALL OVER AGAIN.

Actually, Goldeneye had a number of different control schemes you could choose from. There was one where you could use the C-buttons for movement and the analog stick for aiming, the same scheme that had been done before in Turok. It worked extremely well for me, and honestly I think its probably the best controlling FPS I have ever played on a console. When you get into halo and such, you are dealing with having to work 2 analog sticks which I guess might work for some, but I just cant do it. It's kinda like trying to pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time. But basically what I'm saying is I don't feel like Halo revolutionized console FPS controls in any way, because the same basic schemes were around before, just having to use buttons instead of a second stick.

It seems to work fine, but even when fully charged, the wii software will only show 3 bars of capacity rather than the 4 bars you get on alkalines. 11. Is it really so bad? on Richest 2% Own Half the World's Wealth · · Score: 1

Like my economics professor tells us, when you have economic growth, EVERYONE gets a bigger slice of the pie. The slice of the rich grows much more than the slice of the poor does, but the slice of the poor is still growing. Some people may go on about how its not fair, and we should live in a more socialized economy where everything balances out, but when you stifle economic growth it's not just the rich who will be getting a smaller slice, but everyone. People living in poverty in America today have it better off than my grandparents did about 60 years ago. I'm not too concerned with how much the rich have, because as a lower-middle-class American citizen, I have everything I need. I also suspect that in 50 years time, most of what we call poor today will also have most of the things that they need (we are already close to that point in many countries).

I believe there must be much more to it than that, or else every single bill would have tons of insane riders attached (more so than we have now!). I mean, if someone adds a rider to outlaw online gambling, then whats to stop another person from adding a rider that would nullify that rider?

Well, it's true that the best solution would be to simply not have a DMCA at all, but often, this simply isn't possible. The people who don't want it are not as powerful or persuasive as the people who DO want it. Completely stopping something like this can be difficult--but lessening the impact that it has can often be more easily obtainable. Compromise sucks. The side that compromises is the side that loses something. But when it comes down to it, its a lot better to lose something than to lose everything.

  18. Well, I actually liked the thing on Games That Defined The Virtual Boy · · Score: 4, Interesting

Most of the comments on this story seem to be either jokes or trolls, but I was one of the few people who actually really enjoyed the Virtual Boy. Headaches were never a big problem for me, either. If I remember correctly, all games would have a "break period" after playing for about 15-20 minutes, where it would warn you that you should stop playing for a while. Sometimes I would even ignore this and keep playing anyways. If I got any headaches at all, they were pretty minor. And to a kid, if you have a choice between playing a video game, and getting a minor headache, is the choice really that difficult? While the system didn't have a large number of games, most of them were pretty high quality. When the system started dying, I was able to buy probably half of the Virtual Boy library at Blockbuster video very cheaply. Mario Tennis, Teleroboxer, and Wario Land were all pretty awesome games, and provided me with hours of entertainment. Galactic Pinball and Mario Clash were pretty fun as well. I never really got into Red Alarm... the wireframe graphics just made it too confusing to tell what was going on, in my opinion. Another game I really enjoyed which they don't mention on this list was Panic Bomber. That was an awesome puzzle game, and it was probably just a straight port from another system... but it was still great fun. The one thing that always perplexed me about the Virtual Boy though, was its odd controller. Why would it need two directional pads? Hardly any games even used the 2nd pad. I think maybe teleroboxer used it, but I cant remember. Jack Bros used the 2nd pad, but it wasn't all that necessary. I think any of the games could have worked fine without the 2nd pad. It makes you wonder if Nintendo had something else planned for that... or if it was just not a well thought out controller design.

I couldn't understand this at all, I had never heard of such a thing as being REQUIRED to change my password. I have a secure password that I use on all of my important accounts, and I remember it very well. Now though, they were forcing me to come up with something totally new. As you could expect, a few weeks later, I had forgotten the new password. Then comes the secret question screens... I couldn't remember if I had actually answered the secret questions when I made my account, or if I had just typed some random characters. Apparently I had typed random characters, because after 5 attempts, paypal LOCKED DOWN my account. Now, it's been months since this occurred, and after many phone calls, and even faxing them a ton of my private information that they requested, my account has STILL not been reinstated, with hundreds of dollars of my money locked up in there.

I mean what if you buy a new game for $50, and everything is right there on the table immediately, and you go through it all in 10 hours. I would certainly feel ripped off! However, that same game, if it requires me to meet certain requirements in order to unlock extra stuff, I'm going to keep playing, and get 20 or 30 hours of playtime out of it, if not more. I'm certainly not going to feel like the game was such a rip-off now.
