Personally, I work from home, and I usually have the TV on in the background. I purchased a PVR when my VCR died simply for the convinience of an integrated guide and one click "record" button, and the convinience of being able to quickly find a show, save a show (And delete others), etc.
I skipped through commercials with my VCR, I skip through them with my PVR, and if they fuck with my PVR then I'll skip through them with my PC too.
I haven't been following the P2P judgements closely, so I'm a little curious as to how they calculate the monetary "damages" figure.
First they calculate what people would be willing to pay for the song, multiple it by 100. Then they figure out how many people MIGHT have downloaded it, multiply it by the previously determined "value" of the song, multiple the whole thing by the target's net worth, and sue.
Too bad... Palms can recover from a failed flash upgrade, part of the boot code detects an invalid image and boots into debug mode listening on the serial port.
Unfortunately for all the PPC suckers, no such thing exists -- Failed ROM upgrade = dead device.
The point is that they're not using them - there's a number of US companies (not ISPs) that have a/8 networks assigned to them, meaning they have a hundred or more times as many IP adresses as employees.
I can justify it.
I've seen it in the theatres, I plan on seeing it again, and I plan on buying the DVD the day it comes out. Somehow, I don't think anybody would care if I download it since they're still making their money off me.
Great, now we can get some fuckwit driving a remote car while he drives his real car while he tries to make a phone call and send a text message all at once.
Plus, if you do get "caught" but some twit in a bar, you just play dumb, you have no idea, you got it as change earlier from some gas station, and offer another (legitimate) bill instead, let them keep both, and get out quickly.
You don't even need to go that far... Just a few simple questions should do the trick...
"Did you invite him?"
"No"
"Do you know him?"
"No"
"Do you know how he entered your house?"
"Broken Window"
"Was he carrying anything, a weapon perhaps?"
"I couldn't tell"
"Why not, he was only a few feet away from you?"
"I couldn't tell if he had a weapon, he was holding my TV in his arms, it obscured the view"
Fuck prior bad acts, you might not be allowed to bring up the criminal conviction, but surely you can explain that at the time you broke his arm it was 3:30am in your basement after you'd heard/seen a broken window and were aware that you had no invited guests in the house.
Also, being a black belt doesn't automatically mean excessive force, does it? It counts for something, sure, but if you attempted to restrain him, he got loose and in the struggle you broke his arm, well, lets face it, at worst all you've proved is that you're not as good a blackbelt as you thought, but you've done no worse then an untrained individual would have done.
If not, then at a minimum you should be able to donote into a fund of smokes, drugs and other prison currency to be given to anybody that rapes the would-be-burgler... "Stop raping yourself!"
#1) The DRM The Matrix, I'll pirate it.
#2) They put annoying DRM, I'll not only pirate it, I'll preorder it the day it shows up on Amazon.
Which option do they want?
Or people that just don't like commercials?

Based on the paragraph above -- Yes, yes we do.

Or they'll just blame pirating on continuing loss of sales, and use it as an excuse to hijack our rights even further.

I'd also like to see USB replace SM, SD, MMC, CF, Memory Stick, etc
Then maybe RAM could replace CPUs, and scanners could replace monitors, right?
Who keeps the metric system down? Weeee dooo! WEEEEE DOOOOOOOOOOO!
Ahh... *that* -- I forgot about that, I turn that shit off during the first few minutes of operating the OS. I completely forgot 'bout it.
NTFS compression does the job, and it's fairly reliable for infrequently accessed non-critical files. As always, create a backup first *shrugs*
Easy... Someone outside the US will do it
Maybe they'll subsidize Office XP for OpenOffice buyers? *snicker*
Personal opinion, they probably run a non-MS firewall in front that is rewriting the TCP headers enough to screw up fingerprinting.
Didn't they migrate to IIS (With mixed success) many moons ago?

They're not going to enforce their copyrights either, are they?
Followed by a "What Kind Of Computer To Bring To College?" dupe the day after
More then that, life support systems have to be certified, and Intel likely hasn't shelled out for certification.

Or the Europeans just say fuck it and find a non-US supplier to deal with

I don't mind the record company making some money too, but lets be realistic here, the artist deserves a little cash of their own too, don't they?
