Before anyone leaps on me, I know you can download the forcedeth drivers but I like my installations to go seamlessly and having network access asap is very important.
In fact I love Distros that install almost from scratch over the network e.g debian. I carry a debian business card sized CD with me all the time - contains all I need to install it.
Shit that probably wont work on this new motherboard either! lol.

As for Bill Clinton - he is as right wing and ill informed as many of the american public.
American has a two party system - the right and the far right.
I was going to install mandrake 10 today but it doesnt appear to support my on board ethernet (nforce2), will suse support it by default?
Oh hold on this a bloody "live cd" again isnt it - I thought SuSE had stopped being difficult about allowing their distro to be downloaded as CD images.

OMG they were in it with saddam!
Oh shit.. they actually were, weren't they;-)
The Telegraph (or torygraph as we call it) was one of the news outlets along with the christian monitor that falsely alleged george galloway UK MP was being paid off by Saddam.
Christian monitor (hey thats like trusting news from Islamic Jihad!) now say "An extensive Monitor investigation has subsequently determined that the six papers detailed in the April 25 piece are, in fact, almost certainly forgeries."
There goes your credibility USAPatriot (hmm... nice nick!).

More than half think that Saddam and Al-Qaeda worked together!
I'm not referring to anything that's happened in Iraq at all.
Very odd that you were talking about falluja then.. I can only assume you dont realise where falluja is... or that you are on a crazy rant that only someone who thinks CNN is left wing can churn out.
Hmmm if you want me to put it in a nutshell I think its that I am lazy and dont like Javas enforced OO - in perl you can put in as little as you want.
Maybe I can get my head round putting a couple of extra curlies in easier than writing static protected void blah blah:-)
So anyway I gave up learning after getting half way through Bruce Eckels book - I understood it, I just didnt like it. Maybe I will go back to it in the future and it will *click* and i'll say "hey I like this!" - who knows:-)
I found filezilla to have a bizarre (perhaps even buggy) interface. I dragged a file from a remote directory to my E: drive - it copied the file and then the E: drive disappeared from the interface. WTF??
Ok while I am posting in this thread heres my list
Gfx drivers - (say no to vomiting due to 60hz refresh rate!) Firefox - avoid spyware etc... by using IE as little as possible Thunderbird - email prog Putty - to regain access to my sleeping screen session where most real work gets done. Digiguide - TV guide software Dscaler - TV application. Stickies - a kind of digital post it note AVG - virus checker Firewall - actually I dont have one atm, they all seem to be fucking buggy and why do all their interfaces try to look like web pages? ClocX - desktop analogue clock. Daemon Tools - mount Iso images etc..
Now with systems like Java Server Faces and Creator you can design a web form in a few seconds using a drag-and-drop designer, clip in some data validators, and visually design navigation through a complex website.
So why would anyone want to hand-code all this in Perl?
And would you believe people still havent been turned on to the magic of creating websites in a "few clicks" using Frontpage? They are still writing HTML! LOL!!!111
That is because most web programming is done by people who dont know what they are doing. If perl came with mod_perl as the default setup you wouldnt see higher system loads than with PHP.
You are one of those retarded admins that dont allow perl because it "uses too much system resources" arent you... get a clue.
Its sheer ignorance for you to say that perl is slower than PHP. Perhaps you should get the book reviewed here and look at the ways to run perl persistently or with the web server (as php does).

I installed Baldurs Gate II the other day, the plan is to play multiplayer with 3 players each and complete it again - should be fun.
Anyway, I spent ages "re-rolling", its strangely addictive like playing a slot machine.
I know BG isnt exactly D&D at its finest (or most accurate!) but its the best CRPG i've played. I miss the old days sitting around with a few friends and playing on a perspex gridded board with the GM drawing the scenery etc.. somehow that seemed more real.
And even better, wheel-click opens the link in a new tab.
Indeed. This gives you the feature mentioned by another poster that you can fork off your current browsing thread to follow up a link later without losing where you are, or even being bothered by the new page since it loads in the background.
Of course that does somewhat extend the "random browsing" sessions that seem to eat up so much of my time:-)
IE is so feature-poor that using it is very frustrating.
The 20MB.NET windows runtime includes a network transparent windowing system(X), and two different fully featured windowing toolkits?
You are comparing apples and oranges. If you want to bring those things into it then how big is Windows (Since you need to have it installed to run c# windows apps!).
Thanks for the info, thanks to anonymous coward too for pointing out the drivers are in mandrake 10, I must have been mistaken.

Many modern firewalls allready flag up applications running and allow you to block them.
They dont rely on mutexes either.

Do you complain when they fail to call the occupying forces terrorists?
The point is americans call anyone they want to demonize terrorists whether they are or not.
The iraqis fighting back are by definition freedom fighters since they are fighting for their freedom.
Thats because people fighting an occupying army arent terrorists.
Reuters use the quote marks to show they are quoting the kind of right wing whackos who think its terrorism to defend your own country from invasion.
Yeah but you have to grab the screen with your hand and concentrate.
It had some good ones until the writers (I think) left - then it turned into total shit and I stopped watching.
Mutant X was shit from start to end though, it was pathetic. Even the concept was lame - they just tried to rip off the X Men.

I kept reading that perl has ugly OO syntax, not knowing OO perl I believed it.
I started learning Java and thought "WTF I have to put in all this crap to code java".
Now I am learning OO perl and its MUCH easier to code OO in perl.
Writing code in java is like trying to have a wank with oven gloves on.
