I prefer "light-hearted prod" (could've got that from: Etch-a-Sketch; LCARS; and type already, no?) but that'd be dependent on sense of humour.
3) They're expensive, but the price WILL drop.
Well that's good. All I'd need for this prediction to be useful now is a time machine.
Etch-a-sketch? They run standard windows applications.
Parody.
4) scratching the screen?
Apparently so. Scratchy styli. Reportedly sharpened through regular use.
Fingerprints?
From holding / increased likelihood that the screen will be touched owing to orientation.
You've never actually seen one, have you? They're not "touch" screens-- the technology behind the pen input is completely different from a PDA..
Yes and yes I know, respectively. But I disagree the technology is 'completely different' - stylus-screen interface.
5) Windows itself runs just fine as a pen interface.
Yeah... I wouldn't part with my Jornada. But I wouldn't lug it around if it were five times as big either.
6) Many come with keyboards and convert to a laptop-style mode.
And we're back to laptop.
Seriously, lighten up - I'm only poking fun at what I see as a buzzword / bandwagon invention. If it works for you then fine - use it. There's really no need to take personal offense...
3) They're expensive, heavy, hi-tech Etch-a-Sketches. 4) Input works by scratching the screen or leaving messy fingerprints everywhere. 5) LCARS interface not invented yet / probably not all that great anyway. 6) Learn to type already!
Look in amazment of my leet modding skillz......I spent some time and rigged up this bitchin 6 position DP rotary switch to controll the speed (and noise) of the fans.
Behold! See what he did there? It's some kind of unfunny joke everyone missed!
"Can I do better than simply dumping my computer's insides into a fish tank?"
With the bzzzt-ing and the fizzing and the fish backstroke swimming!
I can't believe some fool actually bought that tupperware-on-steriods crapfest on ebay. A-nyway here is a much better example of encasing components in plastic.
Choose building a robot that opens doors. Choose not to tell anyone why. Choose a flailing arm that hits door handles. Choose mounting this arm on the top half of the robot for maximum lever-instability-badness. Choose a two-wheeled inherently unstable platform. Choose compensating for bad design with electronic gadgetry. Choose a kick stand kludge for when the robot inevitably keels over.
Try designing a better door.
Or if you really need a robo-butler at least give it tracks and a low center of gravity.
Build? Is everyone else just seeing a section pipe, some explosive charge and some bowling balls?
A couple of welds aside, what's to build? If it had a range finder then that'd be something to build. Or even some method of setting it off that doesn't involve the 'Darwin Award'-style approach of lighting the fuse and running away e.g. remote control.
While Bauer and most of the other agents in his unit used Macs, the traitor used a laptop made by Dell. The baddies, a group of renegade Serbs, also use Dell machines.
Only speculating Cap'n. The naming in the previous films leads me to believe that this will likely hold some meaning. Lots of films like this are littered with references and nods to their various influences and themes.
Personally, from the little I've seen so far, the subway could be a representation of a Limbo concept and the child in yellow, based on Etrigan.
But, of course, how much you read into it is entirely up to you.
Seen at 39 and 45 seconds into the trailer - Neo in an austere white subway station with MOBIL AVE on the tiled wall. Looks like he meets a child dressed in yellow who then leaves with another party (when Neo is punched).
Simple anagram - LIMBO AVE?
There's a later subway station shot (subway train labelled "LOOP" hurtling towards the screen) at 1m42s but that doesn't look to be the same location.

Towards the bottom of the document:
Most of these features are designed to mitigate against malicious attacks on systems even when they do not have the latest patches installed.
The wavy green line underneath 'mitigate' in my version of Word ('97) suggests they use 'militate'.
That's the spirit - go get 'em Word! Grrr!
Each section detailed in the document has this Orwellian subheading. But I feel it's missing the appropriate emphasis...
What breaks or "works differently"?
I think I'll wait a while before applying it so other users can find all the new "features".
And the MSCE says: "Why don't we just close all the windows, get out, get back in, and open all the windows and see if it works?"
OCT refers to Octal.
So... ta da!

The old radio case mod? The centre piece is a spectrum analyser. And pretty cool, IMO.
Isn't that prison slang?

Fix it with:
Generate it on the fly with Javascript and XBM!
small:
enlarged:
Or as an XBM file (78 bytes)
Here's a simple scripted generator
Incidentally, this is how I display my e-mail addresses on web pages.
Maybe it's because when you tell them you're going to show them your "badmonkey" and "spankmonkey" they're expecting something quite different...
If you like the guide entries you may be interested to know that you can buy prints of the original artwork here from Rod Lord.
My favourite is this one (which I have framed on my wall). The babel fish is cool too.

My verdict: cool but stupid.
From the article: After some early success with shows like "24" last season...
Maybe last season but in the first series: 24's Good Guys Do Use Macs
While Bauer and most of the other agents in his unit used Macs, the traitor used a laptop made by Dell. The baddies, a group of renegade Serbs, also use Dell machines.
Not...

Hey! Some of us have been waiting ages for an ashtray-mini TV hybrid!
Seriously tho'... hold one of these to your head to talk and you're half way to owning a set of Spock ears.

Sensors that will tell you how much loose change has dropped down the sides and under which cushion the remote control is currently hiding.
What good are LED's unless you've got a clear case mod ... or no case?
They help keep the gremlins distracted, of course.
