That's a ridiculous statement. Because I don't want to pray I'm wishing the astronauts ill? I didn't see a comment like that posted anywhere in this thread.
Actually, I'm ok with you believing in God and JC. And I welcome your comment to Slashdot.
However, I am skeptical in the belief that praying is what will bring the shuttle crew back safely.
So how many billion more believers do we need that we didn't have when Columbia blew up?

It seems like a good idea, and an ideal solution. But, when you are flustered due to a disaster and you are carrying that disk back to your new server where you accidentally drop it 2 feet to the desk...now you are fusked. All of the sudden your super fast backup is trash. HDDs are just too touchy for me.
I just can't seem to find a good alternative to the reliability of multiple tape backups.
"You have just identified yourself as an elitist moron with no comprehension of how 80% of this country lives."
Well, I'll admit that the word "anyone" was probably a poor choice. I guess that those people with mental and/or medical disabilities can't always take advantage of the programs available in this country.
I may not know how 80% of this country lives, but I do know that any healthy person in this country has the opportunity to succeed well enough in life to save 2 years of expenses. Those that don't save 2 years of expenses choose to by their own will.
Would you like to give me an example of someone (without disability) who cannot achieve such success?
Anyone can have 2 years of living expenses saved. And in fact many people do. I don't think many people retire without at least 2 years of saved-up living expenses.
I don't have that kind of savings, but I could. I don't need to have a 4 bedroom house, 2 cars, a dog, home entertainment equipment, vacation time, etc. but I choose to spend my money on them. If it wasn't for all of my unnecessary expenses then I would have more than 2 years of savings.
Why wouldn't they be able to tell what the software was used for? Couldn't they decrypt content with his PK?
Overall, I agree with your statements... as long as the guy didn't use the encryption software to achieve illegal means. But, for instance, once he encrypts and distributes the content then the encryption software becomes part of the case.
I didn't RTFA... But if a crime was committed in the dining room of your home, and a (legally owned) gun which was not used in the crime was in your bedroom, should that gun be used as evidence against you?
I get your point. Unfortunately I must use my geekness to clarify...
According to your equation "Meaning of life=42" your question is "What is the meaning of life?" 42 is actually the answer to The Ultimate Question, which we don't know.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Holy Shit, I get it! Slashdot crashed their webserver because everyone's trying to hit the same server at one time. Genious!
I just can't wait to get to Slashdot everyday and see the original thoughts, and jokes, that such a wonderful community provides!
At $5 per hour that $200 graphics card = 40 hours game time. And that doesn't count the cost of a $50 game plus all of the other equipment necessary (including the $400 plus 20" monitor you quote). $5 per hour is definitely cheaper than paintball.
When was this? Do you have DNS/network/firewall issues which could be causing this?
These are legitimate questions for a bug report. And they will be helpful for debugging. However, a bug caused by a DNS/network/firewall problem is still a bug. No matter what happens, the program should not lockup or crash.
I'm not a programmer, but I used to be in software QC/QA and I can tell you that nothing was more frustrating than a bug that was returned "as designed" due to a 3rd party or external product. Whatever happens, software should gracefully fail.
If piracy ever gained a foothold, I guess they could turn the service off.
Some piracy will be good for the company as a whole since it will bring "customers" who would otherwise not use it. The trick will be turning them into paying customers.
It can't be that old if it is 15 feet from corner to corner.
My 650 crashes at least once per week already.

When you are talking about more than $30 Billion I think it is very noteworthy.
Not having 2 years of expenses saved doesn't make someone poor.
Can you please explain to me why I'm wrong so that I can at least have a "clue"?

I absolutely agree. In a murder case, the fact that the accused legally owns a gun does not show intent.

I don't know if Terminal Services in Windows 2000 had this option, but in Server 2003 you can control the console by using mstsc /v:computer /console
I already said what you just said.
Tell that to the old Netscape
Yes.
A need to never search for drivers is a bad example, IMO. Apple owns the hardware, as well as the software, so they can manage all drivers.

You should try dyndns.org. They make dynamic IPs usable.
