unfortunatly for the majority of idiots GAIM isn't a possibility, and even if it was, they wouldn't want to set it up so that the program would auto-fix these errors.
I have a personal problem w/morons sending me emails/IMs that have poor grammar, incorrect spelling, and no punctuation. I routinely correct them and usually I am ignored, but I hope that someday these fools will get it.
GAIM has a plugin that spell checks your lines and highlights them red if you are spelling something wrong. Very useful. I sometimes use it to quickly check the spelling of a word in another application (faster than running spell check in Pine or IRC;))
My parents sent out a resume for me to a company near where they live. Instead of asking me to write everything up, they did it for me. The cover-letter was riddled w/mistakes including blatant spelling errors. I ended up getting an interview for that job but for positions that I make sure my cover-letters are 100% I don't even get a "sorry letter".
I was in a computer class that taught LOGO in 6th or 7th grade. By that time I was already very familiar w/BASIC and somewhat familiar with PASCAL. I found it to be a waste of my time and actually made me less interested in other languages.
Everyone's experieneces are different I guess but I just don't see how you can show LOGO as instilling the programming bug (no, not intended) into school-aged kids.
how about I make my bad dreams come true, drive off a bridge completely stoned and drunk, fall for fucking ever into the darkness, and end up waking up in a bed w/my girlfriend;)
what about people (like me) that have two DVD players that do not play CDRs, CDRWs, or burned DVDs (both DVD players in this apt do not have this capability).
So I not only have to pay steep prices for the burner, I also have to pay for a new DVD player? Bah humbug!
why does the plot still suck? why does the movie rely on CGI that looks only slightly better than the original film's? why does the acting really suck?
I hated all the SW movies, especially AotC. It was boring, the movie didn't hold my attention, and I was certainly unimpressed by the CGI after seeing other movies (LotR).
I am not trolling either. I really think that the movie (for all the money that gets sunk into it) should be a lot better than it is.
yes, we really do need to bitch about them. They are NOT cheap. They are NOT reliable. And they are certainly NOT covered by a warranty that guarantees me anything.
Everyone knows that 366 days into your purchase that god damn thing will die.
yeah but I expect these things to work for more than a year. Hell I expected my 24x CDRW to last more than 4 months.
I don't care if everyone considers at $100 piece of hardware "throw away". I still have my USR Courier 28.8 (56k) from when it first came out. I still have 3Com Ethernet cards from way back (ISA), and I still have a TON of other random hardware (including other HDs).
This stuff is always able to be reused (especially for other poor college students that have shit that breaks and need it replaced quickly and for free).
I am sick and tired of recent hardware breaking and the fucking manus not taking responsibility.
Make some decent hardware and put a 1 yr on it. Fine. Otherwise make shit hardware and put a long one on it.
great, but there are reasons that we have them IRL. In the fucking game they are there for money. When the users see some of that money coming back to them I will be interested, otherwise, what's the point?
well I recently upgraded my roommate to XP from 2k (his choice, not mine) and we found that one of his 32mb sticks had gone bad. So for the install and a day he was stuck at 64mb.
Pages DO NOT render faster between 64 and 128 it seems. The god damn programs load faster and the OS is quite a bit more responsive but the Internet is not any faster.
that's really irrelevant. The point is that Indie music sucks for most people and most people are not going to enjoy it and thus are not going to buy it.
People don't always want to take the time to appreciate things. They want instant everything.
problem is, for the most part, independants are not w/a major label b/c they play music that is not good for the ears of most.
I listen to plenty of bands that are independents and I know (from the complaints of my gf, roommate, and friends) that the music sucks to them (mainstreamers, shessh).
Linux was something that the community could improve on. Music is more individual, we can't help the artists to get that much better (yeah, monetarily, but nothing else).
explain to me how this is frontpage news? Who the hell doesn't know that there are times of the year when you should buy over others?
You know that new shit is going to come out in the 1-2 months before late November into December shopping season, and you know that the prices are going to drop soon after Xmas is over. If you want to be the first kid on the block w/the PS3 or BillyBox2 then you are going to buy and pay, otherwise you can be smart and wait for the prices to drop through the floor.
the article on newsforge did not put the brass in any better light. In fact they made her sound like an absolute moron.
She didn't have answers to this question or that, she was shielded from answering any technical question about Linux (Line-Ux).
nah, not interested in using that.
I run E. that's it.

few things I have to say here.
;))

What is the world coming to?
I guess it was the way it was taught. I don't particularly remember using procedures in LOGO (after a quick once-over the commandlist).
I just remember writing "Turtle Race" and shit like that.
well I stand corrected... After seeing other people's posts I guess I was the only fucking weirdo that hated LOGO.
My bad.

Am I the only one?
technically we can't "see" Windows' shares. We can mount them, etc, but there is no *seamless* sharing system.
;)
Sure, there are programs that let you mount them, see them, etc, but there has not been anything to make it look like Windows mounting.
I particularly don't care for the way that Windows mounts or displays it, but that's why I don't use it
I guess it is easier but I have absolutely no problem w/doing mount //host/sharename /mnt/samba/foo
In fact, I have a lot less problems mounting Windows' shares on my Linux machine than I do mounting them Windows -> Windows.
What do I know though, I am just a big geek.

I report them several times a day. Does nothing. I still have people hitting my webserver (the same IPs).

My rant is over.
I bought Kottonmouth Kings a few years back '98/99 maybe? It came w/a free t-shirt (You Got that Kottonmouth Feeling?) and a video.
;)
They weren't top 40 but it wasn't from piracy I am sure
X-men, Spiderman, Hulk.
LotR, Guide, what's next? Xanth?

Maybe that was just in this case though.
billy,
;)
you can be such a brat. when have i ever told you that your music sucks??!!!

Come on.
entertainment = Sandra Bullock.
;))
She's what made "The Net" a good movie as well (bikini, Sandra, beach, laptop = too good to be true
who gives a shit if she gets turned on when she smokes my monkey? ;-)
