Screw internet taxes: you want quick money? Legalize pot. Stop laughing, I'm serious, think about it:
    1) People sell it for $5 a joint and risk jail, so they must be making a incredible profit off the shit. Imagine if the state was taxing that?
    2) Legal pot = A lot less $$$ wasted chasing potheads and 10x more $$$ chasing hard drug dealers
    3) The whole illegal aspect probably makes pot "cool" to kids, encouraging them to smoke. Think about it: was drinking cooler before or after you turned 21? Don't know about you guys, but after walking into a bar a few times drinking became passe, but before 21 drinking was soooo cool. Probably drank more before 21 than after.
    4) Legalizing pot would put many more farmers to work, stimulating the economy
    5) They're already smoking pot, why not legalize it and at least make some $$$ off it?
    6) Pot is a weed, probably one of the easiest grown cash crop in the entire world. A joint worth of weed could be grown for pennies, then sold for $5, 80% of which could be taxes and still leave the farmer tons of $$$. Imagine $4 of every $5 being taxes!
    7) The market already exists, the price has already been determined, the money is there, waiting for someone to take it. Why not the state?

You don't even have to be a pothead to realize the potential taxable revenue legalizing pot would create, but everyone's afraid to even mention such a radical idea.

At least when the power was out you still had a car that could get you to a shelter, if it was some electric car with a 50-mile range you'd be SOL.

Electric is wonderful for the golf course, but by the time they can offer decently sized electric vehicles that get 300-500 miles per charge we'll all be driving 70mpg hybrids or fuel cell cars. Think about it: one of these lawsuits come out every year. Whether it's a band being sued, a movie, or a video game, these lawsuits NEVER win.

So if the lawsuits never win why are they filed? Because it's usually easier and cheaper for the game manufacture, movie studio or band to just pay out a million to settle the case, and that's why they file, in the hopes the defendant will just settle and they'll become instant millionaires.

I think that's crap, and the lawyers and courts should be held responsible for their negligence, otherwise we're just going to hear more of these frivolous lawsuits.

  23. consider RAM? on Samsung Yepp YP-55V Review · · Score: 1
"How many people still consider a RAM based audio player when shopping?"

You say that like we're weird for "considering" a RAM based audio player, as if we're choosing between either a car or hot-air ballon as our primary form of transportation.

    My reasons for RAM:
    -- lower price than HD
-- easier to access than HD
    -- (potentially) better battery life
-- easy upgrade (just add larger RAM)
-- no moving parts = less likely to fail
-- small player (than CD, but HD is catching up)

My Nex II was less than $100 2 years ago and 512megs of CF is about $100 now. $200 for 512megs isn't a bad price, I really don't have a need to carry my entire music collection with me everywhere like HD based players offer.

Transferring music is easy: pop out card and put it in CF reader. No propritary software, no special drivers, works with any OS that can use a CF reader. Battery life is only around 10 hours, but modern RAM players should easily trumpt HD players. Upgrading is easy too: just buy a larger memory card. Only limit is the maximum size the hardware can access, which I believe is 2gig on this unit. And with no moving parts the player is less likely to fail, even if the CF card does fail all I need to do is replace the card, not throw out the player like with a HD player.

The time for HD players will come, but it's not today, at least not for me.
