If you think Sonic is a Mario clone then you aren't really paying attention. They only real similarity is that they are both side scrolling platformers. The gameplay is significantly different between the 2 titles.
Actually yes. I don't print often, but when I do I print massive amounts so I tend to go through a bunch of carts in a short period and it pains me every time I shell out $22 for a few ml of printer ink.
Apparently you haven't seen the sales data. The 360 is outselling the PS3 2 to 1 in North America and the Wii is whopping them both with higher sales per month than the 360 and PS3 combined. The PS3 is NOT doing well.
Hearing this pisses me off. I realize it's a competitive market, but every company out there charges insane amounts for ink. Hell, even the 3rd party refills are expensive. I'd rather pay the real price for a printer and have reasonable ink prices, but I guess that would kill the 1000% markup they have on ink. Laser isn't much better, but at least it doesn't feel like virtual buggering.
If you think no money has changed hands between Sony, Nintendo and publishers to get exclusives for their respective systems then you must also believe in Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy. You might be interested in a bridge I have as well.
I am a Windows user for the most part and have used IE and FF for years now. The best things about Safari are the search and the speed. However, those features aren't nearly enough to make me switch. I just don't like the way it works. Even little things like hitting Ctrl+Enter and all the text in the address bar highlighting on the first click are missing. It's like a pulled muscle in that you don't know how often you use features until they are gone. Overall it's an adequate browser, but it doesn't even come close to making me want to use it regularly.
Is that I use a Microsoft Natural KB. I can't use straight KBs for long without pain. All these alternate KBs with OLEDs in them, or back lighting or being dishwasher safe doesn't help people that need more ergo KBs.
No wonder you jumped on my previous Apple posts. Anything that shows Apple in a slightly negative light is anathema to you. Contrary to your statement there are companies out there besides Apple that make good quality, digital audio devices. It's a preference issue as much as anything and Apple knows how to get that "cooler than thou" market. Despite that, there are alternatives to Apple products that some people actually prefer (hard to believe isn't it?). As for the info tagging, you assume that Apple did it for proof of purchase, but you have no idea. Do you always come to the conclusion that everything they do is for the "greater good"? Can Apple do anything wrong in your eyes? Grow up, it's a brand of computer, not a lifestyle or religion. They are a large corporation like any other and everything they do is about growing the bottom line. The computing world would be no better off if Apple and MS switched positions and that's something a lot of Mac fans just don't get.
Customer satisfaction is fine, but youstill have no solid data other than your perceptions. Like I said I still see no reason for the premium. I've had Dell laptops for years and they have served me well and the only time I've ever needed service for a sticky space bar I had a new KB shipped to me 2 days later and swapped it out in about 15 minutes and it's worked fine ever since. I've taken my laptop all over the world and it's still as solid as the day I bought it. Show me some actual service stats and then I'll have a real reason to consider paying the extra.
You do realize the Athlon 64 is also 64 bit right? In fact AMD beat Intel to that goal post and Intel is using AMD's extensions. As for the rest I've heard it all before and I still have not been able to justify the premium based on this supposed idea that Mac latops are built better. They may look sexier, but do you have any real data to back up your supposition that they are actually put together better? They are made from similar components as PC laptops and in similar factories in China.
Anyone that takes Pachter seriously ought to have their noggins examined. The guy is about as accurate as a coin flip or a Magic 8 Ball (tm). Over the years I've seen him quoted again and again and he's almost always been wrong. It's possible that I haven't seen his correct predictions, but anyone that knows anything gaming industry usually scratches their heads when they read quotes from him. In conclusion, you can spell analyst without the "anal" and he's got plenty of it.
Obviously you haven't spent any time with the better quality free/open source PC apps out there. Also, just because you pay for something that doesn't automatically make it better.
I love to complain as much as the next guy, but sometimes Slashdotters come off as the worst kind of internet poser that isn't impressed by anything. Sure there have been examples of this inthe past. The difference is a company like Microsoft takes the idea and makes a commercial product with it. Taking an idea out of the academic world and actually making something useful is the whole idea research like this. If Apple did this there would be a line a couple kms long on this site to fellate Jobs.
May I say welcome to the nanny state! I am all for out healthcare system, but the government in this country goes way too far to try and prop up our "culture" and things like "multiculturalism". It goes from annoying to downright infuriating knowing my tax dollars prop up crap like this. It's just another bureaucracy that is useless and yet is held up as some kind of icon for social responsibility like the gun registry.
I doubt very much they "ignored" anything. It's hilarious how pundits on Slashdot always assume that they are so much smarter than anyone that works at Microsoft simply because they don't agree with something Microsoft does. I would assume they didn't want to pay the fee and they wanted to push their own media format just like Sony did with Blu-Ray on the PS3.
This game was great. I spent many hours playing it and then again playing co-op. If you didn't enjoy it well it might not be your cup of tea or you and your friends are a bunch of wet blankets.
Ever heard of licensing and support? Those are 2 things MS would have to deal with if they put native DivX and such on the 360. If they allowed people to upload their own CODECs it would be a support nightmare.

Also, the only "laser" style printers that will do CDs and DVDs are dye-subs AFAIK and I do print a fair amount of those on my Epson.

Also, in case no one else has mentioned this it wasn't a payment, it was a royalty advance which is completely common in the gaming business.
If you think no money has changed hands between Sony, Nintendo and publishers to get exclusives for their respective systems then you must also believe in Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy. You might be interested in a bridge I have as well.
Are you kidding? The default font smoothing looked like total ass on my LCD. I had to turn it down to the light setting.

Not sure how this got past moderation, but your language alone allows me to ignore your points. If you can't be civil, don't bother.

If you are dumb enough to buy 3 month month sub for that you deserve it.
Please show me on which planet Live costs $15/month. If you are going to take swipes at least try to have some facts right.

Open standard CODEC != proprietary variations. If you want to use DivX officially you have to pay a licensing fee.

Every time this comes up there is a post like yours. Let's face it, even if you are telling the truth you would be the exception, not the rule.
