This bit o' work by Robert Frost seems appropriate now:
Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice
My thoughts exactly. It's not like we don't have vehicles with GPS guidance systems already.
Besides, how would weather, day/night conditions, etc. affect image recognition? If a major landscape/skyline change occurs (think pre/post World Trade Center collapse), what impact would it have on the ability of the visual recognition system?
I regularly conduct video conferences between New York, LA, and Atlanta. Standard video conferencing equipment works quite well over 384k ISDN connections via a bridge, and even 128k isn't bad.
I'm guessing that the three pubs aren't that far apart, so 512k should be plenty even with the IP overhead.
I don't know much about running video conferencing over IP, but check into the H.323 standard. I've seen a bit about it on http://www.openh323.org/.
There's still a level of human interaction

Robots in Medicine

From what I read, the robots don't administer the injections.
Having been through chemo, I know that the first thing the nurse did each time was show me each of the syringes that were to be injected into my IV. Each was labelled with the medicine name and dosage.
I never saw the syringes being filled, but since I'm still alive, I trust that there's some degree of verification before I even saw the bag that contained all my chemo meds. For all I know, a robot could've mixed the meds, and I'd be none the wiser.
You forgot that in Soviet Russia the ICBM contains you, and that in Korea, only old people use ICBMs.
Also, you can't leave out
1. Obtain ICBM
2. ???
3. Profit!
Feel free to throw in liberal doses of anti-MPAA, RIAA, Microsoft, and SCO commentary. That should get most of it.
/.'ed already.
Do you like your quasi-futuristic clothes Mr. Powers? I designed them myself.
Indeed...as shown here.
Reads fine to me.
from a 40 GB hard drive to an 80 GB hard drive
Standard Drive: 40GB
Upgraded Drive: 80GB
the price... has been reduced to $50 from $90
Old upgrade price: $90
New upgrade price: $50

now we have the great dying.

Slashdot...News for Nerds. Stuff about death.
Just when we got the whole immortality (http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/01/ 19/1646239&tid=191&tid=14) thing spec'ed out, the designers throw us another thing to wipe us out.
A deal between MLB and Take Two wouldn't change EA's plans in the area, though, as EA doesn't use the MLB branding on its baseball title, MVP Baseball
Post the lamest, most obvious, and most unfunny jokes imaginable. They will be modded up "+5 Funny."
Metamoderation be damned, but seeing the parent modded up to +5 Funny (it's 1:Funny now) would be hilariously ironic.
iScabbs....is that something Apple put out to cover iSores?

If not, wouldn't that violate the whole non-commercial use part of the CC agreement?
Nah...the opinion now is that they are some weird zombie-like creatures who play GTA: San Andreas, not Vice City. The blood drinking is a given.
The files are in the computer?
Will it be big enough to install Longhorn on?

Everyone already has a laptop...not everybody has a pizza.
I'd be more likely to have my system stolen this way.
Does that mean they're trying to copy IE from the victims?
Upload to...download from.

I'd say that text *articles* are doomed as well. How many people actually click the link and read everything?
