Okay, let's say Carnivore was used. If this is one of the more common uses of Carnivore I think the FBI's budget should be cut back a bit. As mentioned earlier it's very to identify what program was used to send the e-mail and is almost as easy to trick someone into giving themselves up.
If the suspect was using Outlook he was very, very stupid. Just use PINE if you want to threaten a multi-million dollar corporation.
The suspect probably would have been better off asking for a job to help fix the problems. 2.5 million is a lot of clams. If he wanted to be hard core and blackmail Best Buy he should've just asked for a 2.5 million dollar Best Buy gift card.
I've been tracking this for months now and it would appear they are slowing moving away from Google (very, very slowly).
This is good for users. There will be some serious competition between Inktomi+Overture=Yahoo and Google.
Now the only problem will be getting web sites indexed. Inktomi will crawl non-paying sites if an authority site or paying site links to a non-paying site. For example, I get hits from Inktomi's crawler (Slurp) almost everyday and I sure as hell didn't pay.
This is great. I myself will be buying Google shares the instant they go IPO. I might turn around and sell those share a day or a week later but I will make money off of them.
However, Google's IPO is expected to unleash a slew of other tech IPOs. Not like back when the bubble was forming (POP!) but a Google IPO will make other companies follow suit thus creating another smaller bubble.
Investors probably won't be as dumb this time as they were last time but 2004 has been predicted as a good year for tech IPOs.
Every bootleg I've ever seen has been recorded overseas.
If you want to stop copyright violations go to a foreign country and start busting the K-Mart and 7-Eleven equivalents that are selling LOTR and Matrix movies on store shelves while the movies are still in the theatres.
There is nothing wrong with this law, in my opinion. But, I find it an incredible waste.
"I'm white, I'm offended how over how white people are portrayed in GTA."
Has America gotten so bad that when one group is offended it takes precedence over any other group that might be offended. If you don't like the freedom of speech that has been afforded to you in the US then perhaps you should go back to Haiti.
This is how society in America works. The first amendment should come in to play here. I hope Rockstar sends a clear message on this one and the offended Haitians need to grow up or swim back to their little island.
Ah but there are always a few good apples in a bad harvest.
Lots of people surfing/. have money.

It is evident SCO is trying (and not succeeding) to win this case in the eye of the public.
A telephone conference (which anyone can participate in assuming SCO's conferencing bridge holds up, which it won't) with SCO leaders and their attorneys will be the center ring of this ongoing circus. The fallout from this will be entertaining to say the very least.
A license so I can run Linux? That's nice. How about you tell me how I'm violating a license to begin with before I buy your seemingly unnecessary one.
Funny how the US government is Microsoft's biggest customer yet Microsoft (Bill Gates) has told the government (privately) that Microsoft will never program anything specifically for the government in terms of security, compiling abilities, customization, etc.
It is a tad biased. However, if you take away the editorial it can be very helpful to public analysis of the case.
Perhaps someone could release a "spin-free" version of this document and then let readers draw their own conclusions. I imagine that a few of the conclusions would correlate with this matrix.
This matrix seems like a shot at SCO's attempt to win this case in public as opposed to in court. We all know that this is going to take quite some time to muddle through the court system. We also all know that the courts will have the final decision in this matter.
Linus makes some very good points. Particularly the fact that the code is open.
This could all just go away if SCO said, "We think lines xx - xxx of the Linux kernel violate our contracts/licenses/copyrights." Then it would be easy. The Linux community looks at the code and traces it back to who put it there. The problem is solved (as far as Linux goes) once the code is removed and SCO has their "violator" if there even is one.
As I've said before. SCO isn't in this to do the right thing. SCO wants money and power.
Maybe my use of excluded was clear. Excluded meaning there are exclusions for service providers in the DMCA. Yes, I have read the DMCA and yes, I have a copy of it right here. Think legal when reading my posts from now on.
Please provide kidney in lieu of long-term contract for free Apple TV or Fire Stick.
I'm going to have to go with "NO!" on this one. Not just no but "HELL NO!".

That's sad. Stoli is good vodka.

Perhaps you should develop a sense of humor.
So what was that date that the EU put a man on the moon? Maybe a man in orbit would be an easier one?
You're splitting hairs here man. Don't take things so seriously.
It was meant to be funny.
Never knew the war in Iraq had anything to do with space exploration.
Shuttle program vs. No shuttle program. Pretty easy to not have any casualities when you don't put anyone in space.
Great work NASA!
I've got a really good idea for their next article.

Word of mouth is the best marketing in the world. Unless of course your product sucks. Then it's the worst.

I'm soooo glad there is a garbage can near my mail box. I forsee Democratic presidential candidates protesting against my filling of landfills.

Service providers are excluded from the DMCA. Hopefully, the neighborhood tech would fall under this category.
