Backups? add a small autoloader (like http://www.sun.com/storagetek/tape_storage/tape_li braries/c2/) + software like bacula. Relying on raid disks alone is stupid. Multipathing? You want multiple links to your storage especially if you're using cheap unreliable off-the-shelf parts Scalability? How do you grow this contraption once your greedy users start sucking up every byte you have. And yes, they will.
you have a friend poke bruce in the eye after 2 minutes Fred, who is with you, suddenly blinks. you know someone poked bruce, even tho he will only show up a minute later
I'm seeing a lot of Aus/NZ answers here, and boy am i ever tempted now!
the Big question is, how do you get in? How are immigration laws? Have you ran into trouble immigrating to NZ? have you had any trouble INTEGRATING there? Is there an F1 button once you're there?
FTA: 'To detain them, DNA them and treat them that way was simply cruel and an over-reaction by the police. Generations of children have played in that tree and my son and his friends won't be the first to have thought of building a tree den.'
"DNA them"? seriously, when are people gonna stop verbing nouns?;-)
raid5 and raid1 serve completely different purposes for example, i want my backend storage deviced to employ some sort of raid5, to protect against hardware failure then i want my cluster application nodes to use 2 such disks and write data mirrored, and managed by the os?
why? failover scenarios work much better then the software is aware of the mirror disk
Class Dismissed, and i give you a C-, and that's coz i'm generous
1. Educate users. Let them know in what circumstances what file can be recovered upto when. Don't allow 'grey' backups
2. Don't backup workstations. Use a solution like Norton Ghost or PXE to distribute network booted generic images and have user homes on a WELL CONFIGURED WELL BACKED UP NAS.
3. Don't do incrementals unless you absolutely absolutely have to. differential backups (every change since last _full_ backup) allows you to have multiple copies on tape.
4. use great backup software. I'm a EMC/Legato NetWorker guy myself. don't trust homebrew freshmeat perl scripts. you don't trust your million dollar data to a 35-year old geek living in his parent's garage.
5. Test your restores. Do it often.
6. keep a copy of your critical data offsite as well
Although it might not be as featureful as MediaWiki, which imho is a behemoth, it has one key advantage: it Stores your pages in plaintext files, so that if you lose your webserver, php, whatever, you have still access to your stored info. very useful if you're a company that has to worry about DRP
It's also a breeze to setup and customize. MediaWiki seems to require a ponytail, pizzastained t-shirt and sandals.

Real world businesses use External Hardware RAID boxes, or SANs
using your CPU to play RAID5 controller is just plain dumb
now, as long as mirroring works fine, i'm happyh
is your sister single? hot?
A. you're re-inventing the wheel. php login systems are plenty and better tested than yours. Don't be arrogant.
B. you're developing a website that attracts a crowd in which the majority uses hotmail.
change your ways while you still can

Most of the proposed solutions rely heavily on command of the english language.
granted, captchas still rely on you knowing the western alphabet and numbers.

Is it still possible to use a Creative MP3 player with itunes?
i remember, back in the day before the ipod, my Nomad II 128 worked sweetly with iTunes, showing an icon and all.
And on a side note, why doesn't apple just buy creative? or at least their mp3 player department...
Is she hot? Single? ;-)

'dub' ?
in Dutch, we pronounce w as "Way", and it rhymes with v ("Vay")
Vee and Wee or Vee and Way would make more sense than 'dub'
