  1. Re:And iPods do the same thing. on The Sony/MP3 Saga Continues · · Score: 1

And you can go into those folders, pull them out (use the Terminal on OS X to do this - they're hidden in the Finder), and put them into iTunes or another program...

You can even do this if the iPod is not linked to the current computer's library. Nifty, eh?

    cd /Volumes/your-iPods-name/iPod_Control/Music
    cp ./F* ~/Music/

It'll take a bit, but it works. Of course you can put the music anywhere - I just used the Music folder as an example. You'll end up with a bunch of folders named F## where ## is a two digit number.

If you use iTunes, you can then just use Cmd-O and select all the F-folders, and import them all at once. The tags are all correct. And if iTunes is set to copy files to your music folder automatically, it will make the file names nice and "pretty" again. ;-)

For me, yes, it does. I need something simple, with little complexities, that provides simple basic features, like a menu, and a way to switch applications. I don't need fancy GUIs. In fact, the only reason I use X is to run a graphical browser, X-Chat, and easily view and switch between up to around 8 terminal windows. And maybe the occasional other GUI program. Blackbox does all that I need it to do, so it's perfectly fine for me.

    And I don't think I'm alone.

I can't find an exact number on the packages in Debian at the moment, but doing a package search for "a" in the stable package set comes up with almost 4000 matches (that is 4000 packages with "a" in them). A description search for "e" brings up 9157 packages. So apparently it's (at least) almost 10000 packages currently.
