And you can go into those folders, pull them out (use the Terminal on OS X to do this - they're hidden in the Finder), and put them into iTunes or another program...
You can even do this if the iPod is not linked to the current computer's library. Nifty, eh?
It'll take a bit, but it works. Of course you can put the music anywhere - I just used the Music folder as an example. You'll end up with a bunch of folders named F## where ## is a two digit number.
If you use iTunes, you can then just use Cmd-O and select all the F-folders, and import them all at once. The tags are all correct. And if iTunes is set to copy files to your music folder automatically, it will make the file names nice and "pretty" again.;-)
... unless it already does 100% of what you you 100% well.
I'll interpret this as "unless it already does 100% of what you want 100% well".
For me, yes, it does. I need something simple, with little complexities, that provides simple basic features, like a menu, and a way to switch applications. I don't need fancy GUIs. In fact, the only reason I use X is to run a graphical browser, X-Chat, and easily view and switch between up to around 8 terminal windows. And maybe the occasional other GUI program. Blackbox does all that I need it to do, so it's perfectly fine for me.
It's more than 3000. IIRC, it's more on the order of 8000. But yes, your point is taken nonetheless. But 1000 is probably too few. Maybe aim to take it down to 3000 or so.
I can't find an exact number on the packages in Debian at the moment, but doing a package search for "a" in the stable package set comes up with almost 4000 matches (that is 4000 packages with "a" in them). A description search for "e" brings up 9157 packages. So apparently it's (at least) almost 10000 packages currently.
Well, if you wait a few months, I believe Tiger's iChat will support Jabber.

Scroll down to the parts about "Your Serve" and "IM Me". While in the first paragraph I indicated, it doesn't mention Jabber by name, it is mentioned by name in the second.
I believe that the iPods play though an entire playlist (randomly, in shuffling mode) before starting again (at least mine does that - 3G), so it's just that you restart it again before they play...
It's a known fact that Apple is in general a better company to support than Microsoft.
Apple supports open source to a degree. Microsoft tries to fight against it.
Apple uses a Unix-based operating system. Microsoft uses a completely closed-source operating system with no cross-compatibility between platforms (without heavy re-coding).
So it's really not that hard to see/.ers supporting Apple over Microsoft...

And even if you don't get $10 off the mini's price like parent did, $10 for an upgrade isn't too bad.
So it sounds like they'll be offering the upgrade on most computers bought this month, possibly?
Read the title of the parent...
Slashdot typos strick again...
And again...
And again...
And again...
It's a curse!
I think you've read too much BOFH...
Ah, what am I saying? There's no such thing!

Any ports to anything but Windows around? They have the source available, but has anyone been motivated to do it?
Its www.groklaw.net, not wwwgroklaw.net. Perhaps someone should review the article next time for errors before posting?
That's like telling oil and water to mix together on their own.
Just from skimming a bit over the summary and article, this looks more geared to adults (or at least teenagers) than to little children.

How much more craptacular can he make those movies? And how many ways can he find to ruin them again and again?
You just had to phrase that like a challenge, didn't you?
I really would have preferred to never know..

While parent was obviously being funny, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a bundle of the three together.
Still separate programs, but one cohesive install package, for those who want to have all three slightly more integrated.
If they get food that good, I want to work there...
:P
All of it sounds so yummy!

Maybe he enjoys what he does? Did you consider that?
Just because it's a job, doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. And if you don't, you're probably in the wrong job anyway.
Oh, I thought there were several people involved in Linux? Didn't know Linus created it "single-handedly".
I think they are referring to his being the original creator, and brining about Linux, in very general terms.
Come on, when will this be ported to Palm OS? I'm currently using NetFront on my Clie, and while it renders pages pretty great, it's slow. Very slow.
So, when? Because Minimo on a Palm would be very nice.

Well, it does get edited a fair bit...
And ad-free is free if you use either the ad-block extension (Firefox/Mozilla) or some CSS tricks for almost any other browser....
Microsoft must be kid Buu. Evil through and through.
Also, don't forget Battlestar Galactica.

Speaking of which, is on in 15 minutes here...

It should work like any other flash drive, if I understand it correctly.
But it has a different topic icon. It must be different.
How, you say? Don't look at me... Ask the editors!
