    I believe that your brain has bean washed by Bush's acolyte.

    Sadam Ussein governement was an ateist governement. I'm not saying that he was not an islamist, but he's goverment (or dictatorship) was not driven by religion (like it is in Iran). In fact, it was only when Sadam lost all hope that he made a religious pitch to his population.

    While the US does not depends only on oil, it does depends a lot on it. Controlling part of the world oil production can have great benefit for the US and specially for Bush's familly.

    If fighting Islamofacist would be the goal of the US governement, they would have invaded Iran or some other country run by Islamist, not Irak.

    However, Irak has a lot of oil reserve that have yet to be exploited... And that's the reason Bush wanted to invade it.

    One of the great feature, that has been added recently, is the RSS feed reader. You can add as many feed as you want and it handles each item in the field just like a e-mail message. This means that you can keep an history of the feed you've subscribed and do search. You can even forward feed item like normal e-mail.

    I've dropped using RSSOwl and bloglines to use Thunderbird exclusively for reading my RSS feed.

    I find it a bit amazing that Google does not get smashed enough with this thing.

    Stop defending Google! It it were Microsoft who had released this software everybody here would bang on them.

    Now if one would say, in Google defense, that the software is BETA and may have some issues regarding privacy, that would be OOK with me (I'm even surprised that Google say stuff like it not for use on multiuser-machines instead of saying "Look... It's beta software, we did not address multiuser machine issues yet).

    But having people defend Google just because they are Google... It's just plain idiot!

    The fact that you can get the data with some other tool does not remove all fault on Google... The Desktop search do make it a lot easier to get and present it in a way that it can be easily understood.

    Note also that it does more that search availlable information. It keep copy of indexed documents even if they are DELETED (and that not just put in the recycle bin).

    Please everybody... bang on Google! They will have too listen and provide a tool that take privacy concerns into account (they current attitude toward these privacy issue is the same Microsoft attitude toward securoty issues).

    That a nice little hack... But a mouse is a point and click device. So I would not call that a 3D mouse for now.

    This hack is a just a point and stare device... Maybe he should had a switch on the ring to allow for clicks.

    A 10-15 percent loss in strength and my compass still works. At 10-15 percent of it's strength my compas would probably be useless.

    I always knew that those hi-tech gear like compass would fail us.

    Fortunately, we have the wondeful low tech GPS system which allow us to find our way. I know, it has the drawback of requiring us to move to know were we're going.... But anyway, does someone standing still needs to know in which direction he's going?

    Maybe you should read Applied Cryptography if you want to create new cryptography protocols.

    Step 2 of your protocol can be intercepted quite easily (crypto in current cell phone is pretty weak and you need a way to transmit securely between your computer and the SMS gateway).

    In the book you will also find that real security is made of three things : authentication, privacy, non-repudiation. The protocol you defined is only related authentication.

    A better application of technology would have been to put a micronized mp3 playing into the board so you could have your own sound track playing while barreling down a wave.

    That a good way to protect the sharks. When they hear Celine Dion comming from the surf board... They will not attack because you have bad taste.

    Mod the parent up... The playability of a game on any platform is directly proportional to the quality of the controller. I have a powerful PDA (Palm T|T3), I downloaded a really nice game with nice 3D graphics (MicroQuad), however, I do not enjoy the game very much because the button on the T|T3 are really bad to play games.

    So if on you cell you have a nice 3D chipset and nice 3D games, but you're stuck with flat button and a little 4 way joystick, you are not going to enjoy the game.

    Even for a nice 2D games such as Commander Keen that could be ported to current cell phone, the fact that the controls suck on a phone would make that game unbearable.

    I'm also back to 0.8. The main issue I had with 0.9RC was that it took over the right mouse button. When you click the right mouse button and drag, it scroll the page. That may be fine for some, but it break all extensions that uses the right mouse button for mouse gesture (RadialContext and another one which I don't remember the name). The RadialContext menu do popup, but when you release the button, it does nothing.

    Also, with RadialContext for Firefox 0.9, the [back] gesture get you to the previous site and not the previous page as it used to do (I don't know if it's a change in RadialContext or an issue with Firefox 0.9 though).

    So 0.8 is it for me. Anyway, I find it to be very stable and fast enough.

    I believe that most people discarding military use of this technology forgot not all armies (or group of opponents) have a bunch of technological gizmo to detect all kind of emission one can produce.

    In cities, when you are not in the dark, this kind of technology has great potential. Your opponent will not be able to rely on night vision... Also, even if you are still visible with IR, your opponent still have a worse view than if you have no camouflage. As another poster said, your advantage may only for a few seconds, but it's enough for you to have better odds.

    I can also see this technology for police interventions (hostage situation and the like). In most cases, the bad guy will not have any kind of technology to detect you.

    How is this insightful??? This is a classic case of parent did not RATFL (Read All The Fine Links). They are not streaming the video... You can download them on up to 3 computer and you can watch them unconnected (laptop on the road).

    I'm using a mail service that has SpamAssasin (mailsnare.net). I configured my account so that SpamAssasin mark messages, but I did not create any filters to delete them of move them to a Spam folder.

    Lately, I've received legitimate e-mail from someone else with a Yahoo Mail account. Spam Assassin mark them as Spam.

    However, my mail client, Mozilla Firebird, does not mark them as Spam... So it stay in my Inbox (even if it contain the Spam Assasin Header and modified title).

    Actually, the Firebird Spam filter accuracy is very close to 100% with zero false positive.

    Way to go for client-side spam filtering!

    I don't know about the US, but in Canada, the CRTC regulate the ratio of advertisement vs content. If a company pay to play a song with "provided by" before of after it, then the radio station will have less air time to play real advertisment (which are probably worth much more per minutes). So if that happen, it's good for the listener because he hear less real commercial and more music.

    Now if the radio station play the same song too often, this will probably have an adverse effect on how many people little to it.

    It's nice, but the RadialContext extensions no longer work. I removed it, reinstalled it and it not activated and don't show up in Tools|Extensions.

    I've grown addicted to this extension.

    I feel the same way... I'm canadian and I like it when canadian companies are successful. However, when the company is abusing the patent system, then I will not drop a single tear if they become the abused party.

    I also do not care very much for a company that sell product that are overpriced and who did not innovate very much since the launch of their first product.

    The company must also care for review and article about the product. If they had enabled all the feature on the 300D, then reviewers would probably blasted a bit more about usability as users have to go to more menus to access the same functionality that can be done with a turn of a dial on the 10D.

    It must be noted that right now, the price difference is about 500$. But when the 300D came out, the price difference was over 1000$. The hack would have been a much better deal at that time and it would have probably affected the sales of the 10D a lot more than it will today.

    Apple owned the desktop market in the 80s and got beat down by the new guy named Billy Gates.

    ?!?!? Apple never owned the desktop market. They never had more than 50% share of the personal computer market (I believe it never went beyong 20% or 30%). If they owned any market, maybe it was with the Apple II (but then again, I'm sure that more C-64 were sold than Apple II), but never with the Mac.

    I agree with you... Free hardware and subscription based software is the dream of Gates and Schwartz... It means predicatble perpertual revenue stream for them.

    The problem with subscription software is that consumer, if they choose that option, will only want to pay one subscription fee. Not a bunch of subscription for all their software. This mean that if it really catches on (which I doubt except for the enterprise), then the big software companies will get all the business unless other companies (Dell or some other third party) offer subscription bundles which include software from small companies (a bit like the Linux distribution model).

    Wearing plastic glove would not help... You have to change your plastic glove after handling the raw chicken or you will contaminate other food (with salmonella) anyway.

    Wearing plastic glove is just useless. Just wash your hand after handling raw meat and you'll never have contaminate your other ingrediends.

    It just seems so mean-spirited to wish for a show's cancellation-- over a hundred people lose their jobs as a result, and I'm not talking about high-paid actors, I'm talking about camera men, editors, janitors-- normal people. It's not fun losing a job, folks.

    Actually, the biggest looser in a show cancellation are the actors. The actors are often stigmatized by the role they played and have trouble getting on another show.

    The support and production staff will just move to another show (existing or new). Their job security is not related to their popularity but to their actual skills.

    It depends how you define your logic. In that case, if you define that better technology should win is logic, then you are right.

    On the other end, if you define that lower price should win is logic, then you are wrong.

    When consumer have to decide between two product based on limited amount of money, I beleive that VHS winning more consumer over Betamax is very logic.
