Probably not. Look at the world of small business. People start businesses all the time. Sometimes they fail. These same people will start another business. It is no reflection on other established businesses.

Microsoft is a corporation. they are not trying to create "community atmosphere", they are trying to sell a product. If projecting the illusion of "community atmosphere" will help them market that product, then they will try to create that illusion. They care about profits, nothing more, nothing less.

You can make an incredibly simple 3D modelling application if all you want is incredibly simple 3D models.
