Coming from small town in Australia where sugar is the primary industry, I can say that burning off before harvesting is much less commonplace these days.

Most farms in my area now harvest green. I believe they do this for two reasons.
    1. Slightly higher yield
    2. Free compost for the next years crop
In any case the industry is much cleaner than it was even 10 years ago.

I too really enjoyed the new SG-1...

Probably more than I enjoyed any of the episodes of the last season.I particularly Farlah's comments on our limited gene-pool when Cameron and Daniel are side by side (Don't they look just a bit similar???).

You may be right, and I'm certainly no physicist, but I've always imagined a large oxygen-filled vessel (for instance a starship) exploding would send the oxygen flying in all directions (a gas fills its container right...) therefore if the sound could travel through the oxygen anyone in that oxygen could hear it?
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but that's just how I imagined it.

Well at the moment here in Australia, a major retailer (Woolworths) ha recently been selling SDTV set-top boxes for $70. That's $70AU, not a huge amount. I assume similar products exist in the US for a similar price. By paying up this $70 you can keep your 11 year old TV and take the chance that it might only last another 6 months. At least if that's the case you won't be extremely out of pocket.

If that is the case its shockingly bad! I've got a Logitech Wireless controller for my Xbox (I think it runs on 2.4Ghz) which lasts easily 100 hours +....

I think the low battery indicator comes on when you have approximately 100 hours left, and I'd say its probably close.

I've only changed the batteries 3 or 4 times since I bought the controller which would have been about 9 months ago.

Well I can't speak for the PS3, but the Xbox 360 has a pairing button on the front of the console. I'm guessing you press the pairing button then immediately press a button on the controller (possibly the Xbox Guide button). The ring of light on both the console and the controller indicate which controller is connected to each port on the console.
