    reason for remake is the game seems hurried and unfinished toward the 2nd half. (it's the first FF title for PSX).

    and looks like Square Enix has put a lot of time/money to develop a FF7 franchise, maybe a remake wasn't too bad of an idea after all.

    but first thing first, they gotta sort out the FF11 mess they are in, and probably push FF12 out......

    by *default* Opera set it's UA to be IE, but any selfware Opera user will change it to be Opera anyway. (I've been using Opera since 4.xx, and I always set mine to Opera). it's not something obscure to set, it's in the quick menu (F12, then set the Identify as Opera/Mozilla/IE)

    I personally like Opera a lot more then Mozilla/Firefox, because it's gesture command is much faster and useful then what's availible so far in Mozilla.

    sometimes I'd want to see another messy product war just so the manufactures behind the format war to see it's a no win situation for anyone. I guess most people forgot about the VHS vs Beta, or MD vs DCC (well, this one really isn't a war. since both lost to CD-R)

    Although F-2 cost a lot more then the F-16 will ever be, it did saved a lot of money on the initial R&D by adapting a good design, and F-2 is not a simply enlarged version of F-16, it did has a lot of innovation and locally designed components goes too.

    Japanese's military traditionally try to build everything themselves either indigenous design or licensed design, and doing so they achieve technology independence, at the cost of hugely inflated cost.

    It's the same for super computers too.

    the clock won't give farmers *extra* time on sunlight, since farmers work by the sun ANYWAY. and I really not sure why US keep using DST, maybe because special interest?

    It's not new idea being released slowly, it's new idea being ADOPTED slowly.

    USB, firewire, DVD-ROM/R/RW all have been around for quite a few years, but only the last couple years we've seen it actually being *utilized*(yeah, you can buy the computer with all those, but when it came out, no one has anything to plug it in). even now it's not a complete replacement of older technology yet. (your computer still have PS2 connects for keyboard, mouse, serial, and parallel port....) Most of the software still come with CD rather then DVD..

    and there are problem of trying to be the first one in the market, since those bleeding edge technology cost a lot of money, it won't be easy to sell your idea to the mass public (I remember the first USB flash drive, 32MB cost around $200, now you can get 2GB for less then that).

    I also upgraded from my Nvidia 4x00 series cards in my boxes to ATI 9600 series cards, but it's not because of HL2, rather because nvidai 5x00 series cards were such a big problem (noisy and performance issues). but ATI's driver is such a big problem down the road (especially the ATI Multimedia Center part.. I have 2 AIW cards). and now I'm swearing off ATI for good.. next time I upgrade, it'll be nvidia again. (6x00 or 7x00 series)

    until ATI can pull their shit together on the capacitor issues(maybe) and driver issues (not likely)

    Another useless study.. people study anything for grant money. the study itself is flawed, since the message they get is not *spam* by definition, and there's not much information on *how* did those people dealing with the *spam*.

    perhaps someone can dig more information on this, but I doubt it'll do us any good except more informed bashing on /.

    I like mwave a lot too. It's still one of my main source of computer hardwares. (the bonus is that they can do will call, unlike newegg).

    often times I'll assemble a system from the two internet stores, mwave and newegg, and see who's delivery is faster (mwave uses UPS, and newegg uses Fedex). and there are a few times that the 2 delivery people will show up together...

    unless the stuff I want to buy are rare and/or the item are just way too expensive to acquired brand new, I'd rather buy it off somewhere else other then ebay. there are just too much noise on ebay now. and their rating/feedback system isn't exactly objective. (a lot of times it's tit for tat, I gave you positive if you gave me positive, vice versa). Item quality is a big issue, since there's not much guaranteed on what you see is what you get. (and those misleading descriptions... )

    and we seriously need a good competitor to Paypal. because if something is wrong, Paypal isn't the one that really out to help you solve the problem(most of the time Paypal is fantastic, but if something went *wrong* during the transaction, or wrong with goods, Paypal is really slow on dealing with problem, or sometimes, not doing anything at all).

    If it's the first time I deal with this shop, I also tried to check out it's reputation online, such as http://www.resellerratings.com/ just to get a *general* feelings of the company. or just try to search online a bit for some warnings.

    ATI's driver is what really screws up the game. I've made up my mind after waiting around for the *upcoming* driver that can fix my problem (which never came).

    I have 2 ATI 9600 ALL-In-Wonder. and each generation of the driver release it just gets bloated and didn't solve the existing problem. and the Media Center is the worst offender, not ATI *Emulate* VHS Macrovision protection, making it impossible to watch copyrighted VHS tape I own, the emulation also screw up all the conventional VHS tape playback! (and ATI confirm that it's a *feature* not a bug).

    ATI's TV/video play back also has some build in delay that makes certain siutation unaccetable (about 0.5 to 1 sec delay). ATI claims that it has the delay so in case you want to record audio/video, both can be in SYNC.. (those are HARDWARE encoders... delay is unaccetable).

    Let's not even dicuss the issue of lack of Linux driver here.. enough said.

    next time I upgrade the box, it's going to be Nvidia+Hauppage combo...

    I've played the demo, and IMHO it's allowable time is too short to attract players to buy it. It give you one hour of free trial total, and the website itself is really lack of information.. I know this is a low budget game, but.. at least provide enough information for possible buyers to decide whether you want to spend $20 to play it or not. by the time I went through tutorial, the time is up already. (yes, maybe it's intended, but it should allow enough time for players to finish a few rounds of easy games.. ).

    what kept me away from installing something like that is I'm afraid after I spend money and install the system, the company that provide the supplies (ink, tube..) will go out of business(which render the rig useless after current supply exhausted) and since my printing volume isn't *that* great, I'll just bite the bullet and use 3rd party inks..

    usually there's a policy that under X number of stuck/dead pixel in a given size (15", 17", and so on) is normal, you can only exchange it for another one if the stuck/dead pixel is above the monitor's policy. (or there's 2 stuck pixels within certain distance to each other)

    Mac's hardware has been in general keep up with x86. and Apple is probably always have a better designed OS then M$ Windows. yet all we see so far is the share of Macs has been declining generation after generation.

    IMHO it's Apple's attitude toward PC industry.. there are always hardcore fanboys to buy Macs..

    I've never seen a MB chipset that can handle more then 1 AGP bus. but PCI Express is a different beast. the current implementation is that you can have either 1xPCI-E 16lane or 2x PCI-E 8lane configuration, the ovreall *availible* bandwidth is the same. since current gen videocard does not utilize that much bandwidth. future chipset/GPU design might give you more PCI-E lanes to playwith. what I'm really concerned now is the lack of the standard, and forcing People to stick with either ATI chipset/GPU for crossfire, or Nvidia chispet/GPU for SLI.

    there are videocards in the works that give you dual GPU on a single board, which might actually be the best solution IMHO.

    of course, like people already stated, there are some geeks willing to pay bleeding edge price just to have the fastest FPS in the lan party.

    now we have so many TLDs, yet I failed to see the a good seperate of contents according to the TLDs. Most sites still want .com .net or .org names, and only register .info .us .tv or .whateverelse when the names you want are taken.. maybe .xxx will change it, maybe not. but chances are people who register .xxx already owns the same name in .com and others.
