I suppose you'd prefer the methods of former King G. Walker Bush; keeping information from the public except for some "common sense exceptions"?
It seems most Presidents regardless of party attempt to extend their political power. Your use of "King" seems to be particularly slanted against "B. Hussein Obama"; did you not see any abuses from the previous administration? Furthermore, your emphasis on "Hussein" seems rather racist. Does his name matter? Would you be less opposed to him if his name were "William Theodore Smith"? He's the same person with the same policies. It seems you wish to imply he's a middle east terrorist by using the Hussein moniker, because "we all know people named Hussein are evil". Maybe you're one of those "birthers" trying to imply that no one born in America would be given the name Hussein. Again, it's just a name, and trying to use it as an argument seems at best pointless and at worst idiotic.
I understand that you have issues with President Obama, but rather than sounding like Mrs. Palin, how about giving some well formed arguments/talking points? Even those of us who voted for Pres. Obama have some issues with his policies. I'm not sure I have issues with this bill (prima facie) beyond the "common sense exceptions" as I'd really prefer a government that is even more open.
I question the 700 number too, but if you consider that someone may loose up to 5 fingers on one hand, and that the Saw Stop is used in schools (for which the $1500 is small compared to a single law suit), the number starts to make a bit more sense.
The issue I have, is once again society proves it was founded on a stupidity clause. Some members of our species are too dumb to live, but society steps in to save people from themselves. Almost anyone who has ever looked a table saw, miter saw, band saw, etc. understands these are tools that deserve respect and can cause serious injury. The book that came with my purchase of a miter saw had more pages of warnings than instructions; I'd have to pull it out, but I bet it told me I could cut fingers off if I weren't careful. Every time I use one, I make absolutely sure I know where all my digits are in relation to the blade.
Ultimately, it would be nice if Ryobi implemented this safety feature in their saws, but I don't expect them to save me from myself in every case. I'd have paid 8% more for my saw to have the feature, but I still would want to be extra careful around power tools. I don't consider it Ryobi's fault if I'm using my miter saw with a dangling neck tie and something happens.
Sure, but because of cronyism and bad economic & political policies, politicians/department heads have been "contracting" jobs that are needed full-time and would have cost less in-house. For example, a Department of Transportation isn't "in the business of IT". For political reasons, a department head may choose to outsource the IT to a contracting company. This allows DoT to claim a lower personal overhead even though it is now paying more than it was before, and "the government is smaller". There are likely just as many IT employees working at the DoT as before, but DoT doesn't pay them directly, and DoT can claim it isn't some bloated government agency. Next, DoT will shift its accounting, legal, cleaning, and engineering staff to outside agencies in an effort to show smaller government; "a win-win for all!" (Except the poor taxpayer who now pays twice as much because everything now has a much greater overhead).
As a former Vonage customer, I would say the masochism has nothing to do with the connection and everything to do with customer service and billing. They were double billing me, and refused to look into the issue. They would only tell me that I had to write (snail mail) their HQ in New Jersey from which I never received a reply. Every time I called customer service for anything, I was speaking with someone who not only had a difficult accent, but could hardly speak or understand the English language. My friend (who introduced me to Vonage) also gave up Vonage because every time he made even the most minor of changes to his service, he was charged a fee, and he too had double billing issues.
If you never need customer service (I don't mean rarely, I mean never), and you don't mind being double billed, then Vonage is great. I use ACN which has its customer service center in Kansas, and I never encountered any billing issues. I'd change to a cheaper service, but I'm too lazy to do it since I seem to like them.
You might want to elaborate. Do you mean periods of hyper-nationalism, expansionism, little men with complexes? Punishment by other countries that discontinue trade, collectively go to war, then dismantle the country to be replaced by an ineffective government, and then continued debate over history & artifacts? Or do you just want a leader like him? The game offers some of these things, and the leader can be created as a mod.
Ceramics are a likely key to building an engine that can take the heat needed to increase efficiency of an engine. Combine that with a turbocharger to increase the oxygen intake, with a better atomizer for the GDI, and you've got yourself a significant increase in fuel economy. The problem, as others have mentioned, is to reduce the NOX while keeping the vehicle economically viable.
The engine isn't the only problem though for fuel economy. The transmission or transaxle could also lead to better fuel economy. Many are currently designed for a quick start, but if you're willing to sacrifice low end torque for high end performance, the overdrive gear(s) could be extended for better ratios. One could even add more gears to the transmission, but that adds cost. Both of those have a great answer in CVTs, but the belts needed are in the unobtanium realm at this point.
I'm not condoning their cover-up, but with some of the anti-nuke people out their, perhaps they thought it was just a white lie that would have been better for the industry if they kept it hush-hush. I don't really know as I don't work for VY, Entergy, or the NRC, but that would seem plausible. Nuclear energy is trying to get a rebirth as a safe, clean technology and regardless of how small this is, the NIMBYs and BANANAs will point and shout, "See! See! I told you this nukular stuff is evil!".
"Civilization: Call to Power" is not a Civ game. It was a blasphemous attempt to sell a game by calling it Civ. The marketing department for that game should have been water-boarded, hanged, drawn, and quartered.
Being the only ones shouldn't be an issue. Like others here, I too went to college while I was in high school. I found the atmosphere refreshing and was pleased to not be subject to the clique problem. I was also pleased the classes condensed the information rather than paring it down and stretching it out. This was back in the late 1980's.
I doubt remedial courses would be necessary for the people who are qualified to graduate early. You'll find most of the people in those classes either had a great deal of time between HS and college or barely graduated anyway. If there's anything that will cause the classes to be retooled, it is because many states (like Idaho) are looking at this as an opportunity to cut education costs ($3K/student/year in HS or $1.5K/student college scholarship).
They seem to only add to the modibility. However, I think its success will be dependent upon whether they piss everyone off again by requiring a "modern gamers" graphic card again. There was no reason to require such a hefty graphics card last time as Civ previously was more about playability than "ooh neat graphics". I still play Civ 4 (now that I have a newer computer), but I won't be the first in line this time. With both Civ 3 & 4, I pre-purchased the game. I'll buy 5 if I can play it on my machine. I've been playing since "Civ 1" and own "Civ Gold", "Civ 2", Test of Time, Civ 3, Civ 4. It's really the only game I own and play.
As an aside, I'd be elated if they made it for *nix.
Exactly. I was bothered by the "Flat Screens" being sold in a confusing manner to "Flat Panel". I dislike "High Definition DVD Player" which "upscales" DVDs to "HD resolutions" as a method to confuse consumers expecting HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. I loath 480p/i, 720p/i, and other resolution display devices being sold as HDTV in markets where the consumer is expecting 1080p/1080i.
I have issues with marketers selling crap using names that approximate something else in an effort to confuse the consumer into making a purchase they would not otherwise make. In this case though, masses will not rush out to buy a 3D tv/player with the expectation of anything other than stereo-scopic projection. I leave some room for a few true idiots out there who may believe they are getting 3D TV as I believe society was built upon the stupidity clause. However, since we don't have anything coming to market with "true 3 dimensional projection", 3D Blu-ray is fine.
They probably did teach this in Driver Ed. However, like the lessons taught in English class, everything is forgotten the minute students are no longer required to know it for a test.
You may wish to be careful banding about your knowledge of mathematics. There's rumor that the government may target those associated with the dissemination of ideas connected with the Al-Gebra movement. Members trained to perform subversive calculations of the Al-Gebra movement might be considered a threat to the government. Clearly the people involved in this line of thought do not think like normal people, and are a danger to society as we know it.
Then in the spirit of Jack Valenti, mathematicians, and lawmakers, a decillion years would be a fine substitute as no one will remember anything in that time, and the universe as we know it may not even exist.
Myself, I think the 28 years is more than sufficient. If a writer, singer, artist, etc cannot create a new work to generate new revenue in that time, they should get a real job. If a corporation cannot hire new works, they should be dissolved.
Have you ever thought maybe he's no longer married because he got tired of dealing with her whinny-ass nagging? Or maybe he was never married and his grandchildren are the result of a one night stand. Or maybe he does f*** the wife, but isn't 18 anymore, so needs something else to do for the other 23 hours of the day.
Going out side and walking around are nice, when the winds are less than gale force and the temperatures are above freezing. Same with golf & soccer, it's damned hard to perform those when there's a foot or more of snow on the ground.
So how about this, since I've already invested the money into the machine, I spend the $60 to buy a copy of Tiger Woods Golf and enjoy waving my hand around when it's too cold to go outside and I've finished f***ing the wife. Now take your condescending, smug-ass, 12 year old self and get off my lawn.

Would stars like this be a better theory for sending Oort Cloud material to the inner Solar system than a hypothetical unseen Nemesis?

Does this have anything to do with naval fluff?

Fine line between Funny and Offtopic. The 'exchange' sentence crossed a whole lane.
